whilst out today i noticed that the engine was holding back between 2500/3000rpm it gets up to speed fine but when it hits this range it feels like its holding back on power and like its missing i did have a leaking injector washer but i have replaced it and it is still doing it any ideas please its a 1995 2.5td range rover dse

Check the MAP sensor pipe for splits or blockages (pipe from under manifold to MAP sensor bolted to fuel filter) also the MAP sensor inlet is unobstructed and also the feed from the manifold is clear.

I checked the map sensor like you said only to find it was not attached to anything  it was just swinging in the engine bay bolted that up to the top of the fuel filter and changed the rubber pipe that was leading from the map sensor as it was quite perished going to run it for a few days to see if there is any change also noticed that the sensor on the front bottom of the inlet manifold looks cracked so il order a new one next week think its the iat sensor thanks for the advice mate fingers crossed its fixed again :D

That will cause a loss of power at 2500-3000 RPM every day of the week. It did have plug in it from loom i take it? IAT sender it is.

no joy mate the problem is still there :(

Ok did you check that the MP sensor was clear and the outlet from the manifold was clear. If it has been hanging down it maybe full of oil and need clearing out. Gentle blow with an airline usually does that for you. If you do that and still no joy as Keith says check lift pump is working and change fuel filter. Few other things like internally delaminated turbo hoses choked up intercooler. Could give those sort of problems. But MAP sensor not working is still my favourite.

this is just a mad thought here but it all started going wrong when the eccentric arm snapped could it be that the problem was caused be this poss pump timing moved a bit

True, but it read like you were talking about the pipe to me Tony. Personally I would not put an air line anywhere near the actual sensor:):):)

Not a problem Keith, it is a pressure sensor when all is said and done. All you are doing is blowing air into it to blow crap out not sticking nozzle on it and giving it full pressure. :):)
