any suggestions on a cheaper replacement amp !

hi rewmer
left a post on a bmw forum,, miserable gits took ages to answer, they wanted a photo of my amp but eventually told methat 3 series dont have dsp this only came o the newer 5 and 7 series but they are not harmon kardon systems have had a look aroundand have been given 2 part numbers for the RR amp have you any idea what the part number is ?

was also wondering if a non dsp amp would work ?

I may try my local BM breakers see if I can try one and see what happpens. I know what you meen about slow replies, I too joined a Bimmer forum to try and get some info, but as suspected they didnt take kindly to the outcast.:(
I have emailed a specialist BMW audio company over in the states to try and get info on what cars have the DSP, my reaserch has led me in the direction of a 2000 model E39 540. I found a review that said it had a Harmon Kardon system with DSP so I am heading in this direction. I will post my findings.

Out of interest, had my electronics guru take a look at my amp, and he recconed it was the amplifier chip had gone, and that they cant be changed, even if he could get one.

Ive had that one on my watch list for a month now. Reaserched that route, and cant find any mention of Discos having DSP. The part no. is almost the same though, my amp is a XQK100340 as opposed to XQK100210 of the disco one.

I have put a disco HK in my 2000RR Vouge, it works buy only on radio no sat nav voice and no CD and only have the front speakers working but its better than nothing. Priced a new one up from RR and was £300.
Maple audio have said they do them but cant seem to find one on the web site.
