Hello, my freelander has a problem, the hill decent doesnt work, the amber warning light has permently come on - any suggestions? all help much appreciated!!! Thanks

thanks for your reply, however i have already chechecked the switch under the gear stick and it is in perfect order.
Could there be a connection on the gearbox that maybe faulty?
I know it works with the ABS but that seems to work properly.
When the problem first came about the revs were staying high due to the spring sticking on the throttle cable, all this is fine now and the thrttle pedal is at the correct adjustment, but the amber warning light is still staying on and the HDC is not engaging, could that of caused the problem?

I wouldn't have thought that would have caused the problem but there is no way to be sure.
Could be the ABS ecu I guess? ABS works fine though. Wondering if it uses a diferent part of the ecu as ABS won't work below a certain speed where the HDC is designed to work at slow speeds.

yes the throttle cable adjustment can cause the hdc light to illuminate if it is setup incorrectly, perhaps you have logged a fault by fixing your over revving fault, and it just needs clearing?

double check the free play on the cable and go about getting fault cleared.
hope this helps.

If its only the throttle cable the light will go out without having to have it read on a code reader. When mine came on intermittently it was the tilt sensor between the gear lever and handbrake

So is that the sensor that is from the cable from the hdc switch? Did you change the sensor? Difficult?

Does he mean the longitudinal acceleration sensor (sometimes known as ‘G’ sensor) mounted by the hand brake lever?
