Having got my RR running again Im going to work through a few niggles.....
Front seats are electric but dont work. They are plugged in. I was told the Becm was changed for a Lowline...How do I tell from looking at it if its high or low?
There is an L on sticker on mine but is that too obvious?

Was also hard to get EKA in and when I pulled the door look off it seems very worn and that might be the problem? It has never locked on remote locking and neither has the passenger side.
Passenger side looks an easy fix as this is what I found..Why would somebody leave it like that?

The car is otherwise good and has lpg so dont mind spending a bit on it.
Thanks for any advice.

Looks like you have some work to do. L does infact mean lowline. Highline would be H. Simple as that. Lowline won't work seats. Will fail MOT if drivers seat is not adjustable.

Amazing! L means Lowline. simple for a change.....So its either a Highline or relays as Datatek says?
Luckily the guy I bought it from must be exactly same size as me as the drivers seat is spot on for me..

Unfortunately that doesn't matter for MOT. Section 6.2 Seats and doors. Reason for refusal 3."The driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not functioning as intended". So you had better get something sorted. Highline BECM would be best, but a load of buggering about with diag to change it. Look at RAVE and see what needs powering for seat operation and sort a supply out.

Some of you guys might know Ian from Redline in Estapona ? Im taking the car there to get it hooked up...Ive got a highline Becm and a few other bits so will prob get Ian to change it.
MOT doesnt really matter as it is going to have Bg plates on it soon but I would just like to get it as near "right" as possible.
I tried to download RAVE but got "file error" after about
mins.....Where is the best place to download it?

Im changing the Becm to Highline today.
I have the remote and key for this Becm. Do I have to change the steering lock as it seems to have a sensor for key in and also another sensor?
Will simply putting my blade in the new fob work?
Cheers

Don't think so the sensor just picks up a signal from the key and sends it to the BECM it does not have it's own code.

Thanks. Ive changed everything. Had no "engine check" light so connected battery with key on and light is now on.Does that mean the Becm and ecu are talking?
No warnings on dash just "Engine disabled..press remote" Nothing happens when I do this so I guess I need to re-sync the key to the becm?

No need to change the steering lock. Later cars have a passive sync coil in the switch early cars do not. Not sure what happens if you fit a late BECM to an early car as it will be expecting a response from the FOB when inserted into the ignition which will not happen without the coil.
You can swap the blade no probs.

On later cars with the passive coil, a resync is automatic, however if the coil is not present, I'm not sure aboput the resync proceedure.
Does the FOB lock or unlock the car?
Try unlocking the car with the key, put the key in the ignition and press the unlock button and see what happens. mozz smith is the guru on this subject.

Whatever but it does not need a ignition lock change. Think passive coil came in around 1996 or so.

Its late 96. Didnt change any locks...just the blade. Fitted the Highline Becm and matching ECU and it syncd when I connected the battery with the key on position 2. I then had some things disabled.. EKA , passive lock and immo.
Running fine and no more hassle so far...Thanks Ian redline
Electric seats now working as is sunroof!
Heater fans/blowers dont.....changed the motors and the fusebox and tried another control panel....nothing. But when i did the battery reconnect on pos 2 they fired right up. Turned them off no prob but they wouldnt restart...
Any ideas? Getting hot out here now and no blowers = no AC!

Great site this!

Have a look at fuses 34 and 43 25 Amp and relays 6 and 7. Engine compartment fuse box. Other than that no idea.
