I have noticed quite a few threads relating to driving Freelanders(petrol&diesel) at speeds they were never designed for. They are basically workhorses, and when used as such will not give you many problems. A vehicle is designed for specific use. If you need to drive at 80/90 or more then a Range Rover would make more sense if you have to drive a Land Rover. The number of people who drive to the limit on motorways are sure to have problems, so why not get a fast car? and save a fortune.

Why buy a range rover for that instance? if you want a fast car......

I think the reason we all brought the freelander is for its versatility and design criteria.

The design was for a sports utility vehicle with emphasis towards on road ability that includes high speed driving. With the capability of going off road if required.

I know that if I wanted just a work horse their is a much better vehicle in the Landrover catalogue.

As with 90% of Landrover freelander use is on the highway a certain amount of high speed driving is required. I am sure if we all only wanted a workhorse we would have brought a defender?

Thats why the freelander is such a versatile sporty little 4x4. With in my opinion having taken my freelander off road many times off-road on pay and play days and greenlaning a very capable off roader aswell.

Also to get a fast landrover rangerover the 4.2 V8 supercharged is currently £73,000 any one on here got that sorta money?
