Hi guys.......Hope someone can help me out here.....Never Posted till now but I am desperate.
I have a 1.8 petrol Freelander and guess what??????Failed its Emissions....So, new Lambda sensor, replaced the cat, heavy duty fuel system cleaner added......
Now its high revving in idle and revs very slow to come down....Have replaced the inlet manifold pressure sensor and no change....
Any ideas anyone before I torch it.......Heeeeeeeeeelp please....

the wifes Fiat punto (FIAT - Fix It Again Tomorrow) had a faulty idle control valve, I replaced it and it was still the same till I read somewhere if I disconnected the battery for 30 mins it would reset itself and not use the previous settings....tried it and it worked.

Maybe worth a shot ???

Ok..........so I disconected the battery for 30 mins and no improvement.......So Michael..........you mentioned the throttle housing........may I ask what about it.....is that the same as the throttle body.....do I need to replace it..........sorry, I am a paramedic so good with the body, not so good with cars....Thanks for your help......

Very likely to be either a sticking throttle flap - the housing warps and makes it stick or a IACV (Idle air control valve) remove the IACV and give the plunger a clean and seeif this helps.

Hi Michael.....Thanks very much for that info......I have had a look and the throttle body on my car is aluminium......so maybe not the prob......thanks for input though....I appreciate it.......

Hi Mantamad..........thanks for that.....I have replaced the inlet manifold pressure sensor
and that seems to have cured it......thanks for your help.....
