high mileage

hi folks..freelanders ...td4s not inc f2..what sort of mileages are owners getting out of these engines..mine 53 plate with 83k

barley run in

already had vcu and bearing just in case..

I drove one at the weekend that had 164K on the clock.

It wasn't all good. The engine was ok as was the gearbox. The IRD was shot as was the VCU. The IRD was howling and the steering was tugging over the bumps. Needless to say, I walked away.

i never buy with over 70k 0n the clock...as a rule mine had 75 ..2 owners full service

mine is a 04 plate, done 126k runs sweet, but bought with a recent vcu, new props, and rebuilt rear diff...at about 90k so hope to get a few years out of it. (I had the ird and gearbox oil changed just in case )

53 plate facelift 84k no major probs

really is down to servicing and when something dont sound right ..fix it..dont do tomorrow what needs to be done today...and of course..buy wisely

I thought rule of thumb was to fix it the day before the next WOF (MOT)

cant fix something if youve no idea its faulty ..what does...wof mean

haha...what...wait till ,,mot..noo i do two weekly checks,,tyres , pressures ..fluids..walk around visual...indicators..i hear a squeak..i wanna know...

2003 td4 auto 208000 miles original engine and box happy days

wow...lot miles by any standards, just had a winter service on mine..so oil an filter had only done 4k

I work in a garage & we have a 53 td4 for sale with 179k on it. Runs & drives spot on still.

wonder how many k series engines last that long..only reason i had a td4..was bmw engine and porche gearbox..gertring i think

Not many k series will last that long, certainly not on original gasket in my experience. Not Land Rover related, but I recently hired a Mercedes sprinter with 305k miles on!! Drove like new & was told still original engine, so if a thrashed hire van can do it then a well serviced td4 should too.

k series new hg every 40k it seems...poor heads done in on second one...you see lot of bmw saloons..150k plus...
