My friend has a D2 that he wants to put a winch on, now I don't know much about the D2's so thought I'd ask people who do....

His is a facelift Td5 that he wants to fit a winch to but he doesn't want to lose his original bumper. He believes he's seen ones where the lower mesh bit in the bumper is removed and a winch rope comes out through a fairlead.

Is this possible? Has it been done and if so can you post some pics up please? :)

I figured that might be the case - it's not how I'd do it but it's not my car... Mine's high up and well recessed into the grille for maximum approach angle..

I would like to do this also but cost is restrictive ATM plus I don't go anywhere that I would need a winch. That said I do have horses and I could find uses for it if I had one.

Just don't want to spoil the look of the front of the disco

is the winch for dragging horse carcasses out when you are butchering them fer yesco's gav.:D:D

Should be possible, would need a small winch and very strong plates as it will be well below the end of the chassis rails, paul at [email protected] is doing a custom NAS on one of his bumpers for me, he might be up for fabing a custom mount?

If we're outsourcing work he may as well send it to Pressbrake who's a member on here ;)

Not hard to do a winch mount on a disco, just gotta measure up the chassis rails, bolt spacing and how far you want the winch to sit up/down and forward/back and probably about £20 worth of steel to build with

They don't need anything stupid like these for mounting into a monocoque frame
