Well I said that I would never buy another Landy as I worked on so many when I was self employed mechanic I just got sick of seeing them!
I haven't owned one for about ten years but 23 years ago I bought my first S2a which I converted to V8 and 90 front.I used race type 9's with a mate,and run a 300 disco, landies(more than I can remember)and I had a rangie that I converted to diesel with a 4236 perkins that I owned for years.
Well I have been off the spanners for a good 7 years and I needed something to use as a van so I have just bought an early 90 diesel to play about with and get my hands mucky again. The gearbox is U/S and it has a N/A 2.5 diesel which will probably get swapped for a TDI as they seem cheep enough from the many rusty discos selling cheap.
Two questions if anyone can help as I am a bit out of touch.
Whats the best alarms to buy nowadays (I can fit it myself as I was an approved installer a few years ago)?
Also whats the deal with the GVW and class IV as I seem to remember that a couple of years ago the electronic system linked to VOSA was chucking t the landies VOSA had incorrectly written GVW 3499kg (which my 90 has on its log book)and making them have a class IV test,. Do I need to change the GVW to 2400 or did VOSA eventually work out that they had a glitch?
