hello there, i'm new to all this so you will have to give me chance.

do have a few probs tho if anyone can help.

recently purchased a 53 plate 3dr 1.8 freelander Kalahari from a car supermarket cause it was cheap enough and looked nice. plus i thought it would be safer for my 6 month old baby but there have been a few probs.

1) when i looked at it the cubby hole in the boot it was damp but i was told this was where they had jet washed and would dry out, needless to say it never did, also water leaks in through the roof where the hardback meets the rest of the car.

2) over the last week it seems to be vibrating and making a strange noise when taking left hand bends, especially when accelerating. could be coming from the front offside wheel but can't say for sure cause the whole car shakes .

3) is it inevertable the the head gasket will go or are there some that don't explode,

apart from the above everything else works for now

if anyone could help with these it would be much appreciated.

New and stupid! Should fit in very nicely here then. Can't help you with Gaylander probs. but somene will come long soon and try to sort you out. BTW welcome to the funny farm.

how recently did you bu it ? - shirly there's some form of warrenty with it ?

if you get the opportunity change it for ANYTHING, even a 1940s Rudge

10 months ago i got the bag of bolts,

i'll take it back then point out ALL the probs and then they should sort it out before the wheels fall off, is that correct or should i expect then to try and get out of it for whatever the reason is for that day?

looking back when i saw this one there was the diesel version parked at the side of it, only got myself to blame i suppose.

uf yu can change it fur a doozil - thats yo furst choice - if all else fails get them to fix as much as yu can push them to and try for an extended warranty (anfd make sure it covers HGF)

Hmmm HGF hapens alot i've seen, i didn't even do any research when i got it cause i was blinded by the prospect of geting rid of a 1991 Citroen ZX, got rid cause there was a slight
oil leak from the head gasket of all places.
and as it turns out i'll have the same prob again on a bigger scale.

just out of curiosity does anyone know of someone who hasn't had there head gasket blow up

they'll prolly try and tell you the faults are all down to fair wear and tear and therefore not covered, you need to be quite formal when you contact them or else they'll try and fob you off untill the warrenty has expired - i'd make a list of the faults and send it to them by recorded delivery - give them a few days to digest the contents then go seee them with a copy of it - remember the take a note of the names of everyone you speak

there's someone up here that's got one that's been fine fer years so they arent all bad

yup - there are a few that have had no probs and think they are brilliant. If yu gorra bottomless pocket then risk it - i wont have one agin.

.......... i forgot to add that she only uses it once a week to go to church in, and it's never done more than 40MPH

Hi ya.

Seem to remember some old sage mention if you wanted a proper car don`t buy a landie !! or was it on the lines of if it did`nt break it wurnt
a landie, hey ho whatever, welcome to the world of the bottomless pocket
& whatever going to happen next club.

i saw the freelander crash thing on top gear weeks after getting it,

wife's face was hilarious, told her not to worry tho cause i'm not planning on pranging it just yet.

can't really get it to go fast enough to cause much damage anyway.
