Hi i have just registered so i can tackle the minds of some of you on here, about whether to buy a freelander or not. Im from Manchester and would like to say hello to everyone :)

:welcome2:

That depends what you want it for really!

If you want a vehicle to get you around on the roads, be a bit bigger than a normal car but not too big, etc. then a freelander would probably be a good choice - are you looking at the Freelander 1 or Freelander 2? And what age - there are certain things to look out for on a Freelander 1...

If you want something which can tow be heavy things and go and play off-road, etc. then a Freelander is the wrong choice and get a Disco (or Defender)

Basically... if you tell us your needs / requirements then we'll be able to help you more easily :)

Thanks :) im looking at the freelander 1 as i dont have ££££ and 2 i only really need it to cart my 3 whippets around and when evenutally kids arrive. My husband really only wants to use it for going up farm lanes and the odd field when out with the dogs having 3 whippets you can see what i mean by 'out with the dogs'. The freelander i have seen is a 1.8 GS 2002 petrol 74,000 miles and recently had the gasket done. What do you think?

Probably to contradict a lot of people (mainly cus most people don't like freelanders) it does sound like a Freelander is right for you. If you don't have loads of spare cash a Freelander will also be a lot cheaper to run than a Disco.

I notice you've got a post in the Freelander section - good plan - see what the common faults on a Freelander are - all Land Rover's have different problems, if you are happy to get a bit oily and can use a spanner, you normally get by, but, i've not owned a freelander so don't know enough about the common problems.

Good luck :)
