Hi all.

My wife and I are now in early retirement (we have decided that we do not have time for work). We spend most of our time travelling - in fact we left home 2 years ago for 6 weeks and have been back for 3 weeks last year and now for 6 weeks. We are not due back until Maarch 2006.

We have a very well used 2001 V6 Freelander with a winch that has seen more mud holes and tracks than any other Freelander in this part of the world. The winch is also well used.

Our Freelander was bought brand new in New Zealand and shipped to Australia 2 1/2 tears ago. It has not been the most reliable of vehicles - in fact it has the best of British Un-reliablity but we put up with its problems as we love the vehicle.

When we are not using the Freelander, we are in our Landcruiser which we use to tour around Australia in. More suited for off road but it is also a camper.

We spend 3 months in New Zealand every year and have a Nissan for when we are there. Last month, we returned from a 3 month touring trip around Europe which included such countoires as Latvia, Poland, Slovinia, Croatia and all the usual tourist trap countires - had a great time.

We belong to the Ranger Rover CLub, Queensland, Landrover Owners CLub, Auckland and also a Life member of the Hibicuis Coast Motorsport Club in New Zealand

The main reason why we are home right now is that I am recovering from a broken leg - 3 weeks to go before we hit the road again assuming the doctor gives the OK.

Hope to be able to contribute from time to time as and when we are in email contact with the world

:D i wasn't miserable until I read this - lol
Sounds a marvelous lifestyle all you need to do is ditch the toyota  & get a disco or better still defender.

Not in the outback of Australia where Landcruisers rule. 75% of vehicles in the outback (the real stuff) are Landcruisers like ours. Real basic diesel with the radio being the only electronics. Everyone knows how to fix them, everyone has parts, no electronics to give trouble. The Landcruisers are also the only vehicle that most of the mines in Australia use, everything else breaks including the Nissans.

We have as standard long range fuel tanks, snorkel, bullbars. It is a vehicle built for the Australian deserts.

We also have the use most of the time of a 2000 Rangerover Vouge, very nice. It belongs to a friend who lives overseas for most of the year and we look after/use it when he is away.

:( And a Rangey too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Makes me happy to be a wage slave in Britain - where else could you appreciate rain in August?
