Hi folks, I am a freelander owner, which has served me well for the past 8 years. A few days ago whilst driving I was suddenly unable to engage the 2nd or 4th gear and had difficulty finding 1, 3 and 5. Eventually decided to call the ANWB ( Dutch equivalent to AA, RAC), which the sinking feeling that the clutch was kneecapped. ANWB man arrived took one look under the bonnet shone a torch into the depths and anounced that an engine mount had broken and was blocking the gear linkage and that I should drive to the nearest garage. Unfortunately ( or fortunately) it was by then late and my local garage was closed, so I limped home in 3rd gear and the following morning I jacked the car up and too a butchers my self. To my amazement a large block of metal with a plastic coating had broken of from the gear box just above the drive shaft and was indeed blocking the gear linkage. The block of metal seems to be some sort of counter weight but I cannot find any reference to it on the net. Has anybody any idea as to what this is, what it is called and where I can buy one?
