hi folks howz things im a newbie. danny here im fae fochabers in scotland and ive just purchased a freelander 53 plate td4 in need of repair from my mum when it ran it had blue smoke which i believe is the crankcase filter then it stopped running it turns over no problem as if it wants to fire but doesnt if i spray carb cleaner into the throttle body it starts as soon as i stop spraying the engine stops the pump in rear wheel arch runs ok its got diesel in the tank got a new fuel filter im stumped now surely it should start and be bled from when i sprayed carb cleaner into it please help thanks

i can hear the fuel pump in the back working is there any tests i can do for the high pressure one and whats easiest way to check and clean the injectors

ok guys got the freelander started today its not revving all the time then it struggles to rev at all ,sounds chappy, think its only ticking over on 3 cylinders, no 1 injector is leaking at cylinder head seat, and it bellows smoke out the exhaust and oil coming out bottom of dipstick

have you check breather under plastic cover behind injectors ,its either that or buggered piston, head gasket etc thats blowing oil out of dipstick

when i struck oil from my dipstick it was 100% crank case breather, do your self a favour and fit the bmw vortex breather thingymajig.... 30 quid ish. that's that problem. then get on with the injectors pal.

i will try and get another go at it today if i can disco mikey pm me price please and thanks for the replys folks

If you have oil from the dip-stick that is a 100% sure sign that you have a blocked crankcase breather.

As said - you need to get the BMW part - ASAP before anything else.

Ignoring this advice will hurt your wallet.

Good luck.

Haud forrit ma loon!

Yes it is - but I can't tell if that is the genuine BMW part or a copy.

From any BMW parts dept the cost is 23.35 inc VAT - might be safer.
