Can I suggest that the rule saying you have to have 50 posts in order to politely ask other members if they have a part is a little silly. I will now presumably have to go through 49 other posts and make comments (that I hope no-one takes offence at) just in order to be able to ask if anyone has a spare but dead 4.6 V8 laying around. I apologise in advance to everyone else's posts that I am about to waste their time reading.

In the mean time if anyone has a spare 4.6 short V8 they want to clear out of their garage (water loss issues not a problem) and are somewhere between Cambridge and Crewe, let me know. Thanks

Thanks for that, I did read the rules which said you aren't allowed to post. I took that to mean I wasn't allowed to post, not that I wasn't allowed to creat a new post. Hate to loose my dummy so tend to keep it in the pram, but at least I now only have 48 more posts to go.

You can post right away in the thread I posted. You don't need to wait till you reach 50 posts.
It's the For Sale section that attracts 50 posts.

Post away

How kind. Land Rover list is quite short... Series 1, 3, 101, Disco 1 Disco 2, Freelander 1, 90 and 110. Got rid of the 2 and 2a which am annoyed by but quite tempted by a RRC except the better half doesn't like them and has threatened to take my 90 off me.

Mad Hat, that spoils the game then. Will have to be nice to the moderators, was assuming it might be an automated system. Useful to know though, so thanks.

Dave, agree it's a nice engine apart from the need to have a fuel stop so often I keep overtaking the same little white city car thingy five times on the same journey!

Four speed auto? Very nice. Tempted to put an auto in mine but better half thinks auto's are worse than little white VW Up's and the like!

So are you using the Disco's inbuilt ECU for the ignition system or are you running a dizzy on your 3.9?

Just standard s far as I know. I have had it three years, not really done much except change the oils etc.
One of the idlers on the badly designed belt on the front broke up and I changed it.
And a new battery, never looked at the ignition much at all!
