I bought my first Land Rover Discovery 1 on Sunday and I love it, its a 1998 3.9ltr 8vi automatic with lpg gas convertion, quite a jump from my 1ltr Vauxhall Corsa but I am not dissapointed.

I can't wait til the weekend so I can go out and have a proper run round in it.

Alright Johno.. Welcome, I'm in the same boat as you only having me Disco since August and I Luv it!
This is a real good forum, plenty of humour and the technical advice is excellent.
You'll have to let me know in time how well yours runs as I fancy a LPG V8.

Hi All,

Well after running it for a few days now, I am still loving it, managed to make excuses to make a couple of good runs and so far this is what I have found.

When I start the disco up in a morning to go to work or evening to come home and my wife jumps in I hear the engine and I just smile and think mmmmm V8 lol

On petrol its a bit rough, when stood still in neutral the rev counter is up and down and when in drive it seems to want to move forward so i have to be aware with my brakes aslo when in motion it sounds a bit strange like it could stall, however when the engine has warmed up I transfer it onto gas it runs as smooth as a nut.

The cruise control does not work.

Other than that its just some rust on the body work, I need to seal the windscreen and sunroofs as they leek, all pretty easy stuff.

So I love the machine as far as I am concerned its the best car I have ever owned, my only regret is not buying one sooner.

Run a V8 LPG miself n loving it.....wait till you get the urge to start moding it....lol
