Think I've persuaded SWMBO to sell her car and we will replace it with a Disco. An Auto unfortunately, but never mind - it is still a Land Rover!! :)

Anyone with an Auto Tdi with air/con for sale cheap let me know :)

Matt

Today I not only joined this forum but also joined the ranks of disco owners a 300tdi Auto... I did think my wife would not be too enthusiastic.. However today i was proved mightily wrong this does not bode well for me in the future....we may well be vying to drive the Disco

Yeah, I've had a nice V8 auto Disco in the past, but now I'm poor (cos I work for myself and now have a wife and two little monsters to support!) I can only really run a Tdi. I test drove one a while back and I don't remember it being too bad, but personally I'd choose a manual diesel disco.

Still - like I said, it is a Land Rover at least!!

Oh, and welcome Adrian! Don't let Yella scare you off :)

I just brought a '95 300Tdi ES Auto leather, Aircon, Airbags etc for £2000 with a brand new engine covered for 12 months/12,000 miles

They are out there!

Buy one, dump the EGR, remove and clean the intercooler with parafin then tweak the pump for some 'Vrooom':D

Sounds like exactly what I'm after. I've seen a couple go for about £2300 on eBay recently. Def want to try and get an ES if I can as my V8 was an ES and I like the toys! :)

i agree with almost everything nishi whatever his name is says except for the tweaking the pump bit. tweaking the pump isn't as straight forward as people think, over tweak and you will **** the engine, under tweak and you will **** the engine, once you have got the tweak just right remember to check the oil on a very regular basis as the motor can use more oil once tweaked, also they throw a bit more **** out of the back end, apart from that it does make a power difference ;)

Yes I agree, my tweak was done by a diesel firm that specialises in Bosch pumps;)

Yeah, I think I'll leave the pump well alone. Honestly, how fast can you really make a TDi Disco go anyway?! I/we don't really drive fast now-a-days anyway, gotten old and lazy!

Oooooh, it's not fair - I keep seeing really nice looking 3.9 V8 ES models on eBay (and Autotrader) with the right spec and reasonable prices...quick someone...remind me how bad they are on fuel before I accidently bid on one!! At the moment I'm desperately trying to convince myself that we won't be doing that much mileage so I can justify the V8, but I know it ain't true! No postings from LPG enthusiasts please - there are no LPG stations in rural France!

And with a 200/300 TDi you can run on 'proper' Biodiesel

15p a litre, who cares how fast or how much it uses :D

I don't see many people persuading me away from the V8..please help!! My finger is hovering over the BIN button on this one...230012545829..always fancied an XS - I like the trim. Don't really like full leather that much, but I do like the half leather look of this one. For whatever reason I like the decals on the bottom half of the doors on the XS, which is odd cos normally I don't like that sort of thing, and I really like the XS alloys. STOP ME BUYING IT, PLEASE!!

So with a lifting dash, faulty ABS and central locking, along with a 130,000 V8 Miles, 'loads of receipts' does not mean full service history and is light years away from full landrover service history:(

There, rained on your parade enough???:p

That's more like it Yella! Must be an Auto Yella, and cheap!!

Might be coming up with a plan to get me a Defender anyway rather than getting a multi-purpose Disco. :)
