There’s a cheap bmw/mg 14/17mm plug you can get cheap specific for these at most motor factors. I tried other methods and failed. It’s in here post #10 :

Head on a 10 mm diameter bolt is 17mm across and fits, weld bolt to piece of bar and job`s a good un.

Got a feeling I used a bolt with a couple of nuts on it. Put the bolt in the hole with the 2 nuts so you can turn it.

I really want to say must be that, but even on our wedding night she made me wear one, and that was way before Covid19... I am starting to think she only married me for my P38 and my massive knob, god knows it wasn't my bank account.
