Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Dear All,

I am writing to let you all know that today I have Temporarily Closed Gypsy Lane at Millbrook and Steppingley to motor vehicles, the BOAT is runs alongside the Center Parc site and has been under a monitoring programme since Christmas. The closure is nothing to do with the Center Parc development.

Since Christmas a number of users have continued to damage the BOAT in 4x4 vehicles, ruts are being created in the surface of the highway and down the banks of this ancient lane. Trees have been damaged and now the BOAT is in desperate need of repair. In the past week vehicles have also trespassed along the adjoining bridleways causing damage to the surface of the newly created bridleways. I decided today to put an Emergency Closure on the BOAT which will last for 21 days, it is my intention during this time to formally Temporarily Close the BOAT to 4x4 vehicles for up to 6 months to allow for the works to take place. I will be putting the works out for tender in the next 2 weeks and hope to have the work completed in the summer/autumn depending on contractor availability.

The surfacing improvements will use greensand from the adjacent Center Parc site and will be sympathetic to the surroundings.

I have offered help from some local responsible greenlaners.

Anyone found fecking about up there will be reported doesn't matter who it is even a member I will gladly report them. Some people have been "winch challenging" up the banks. Shame really these are the same kind of idiots that will never even dream of competing or get their motor good enough to pass scruteneering for comps and experience it for real. These guys just screw it up for the rest of us.

Booger is off to Bolivia in Oct, Gonna do Death Road, Guallatiri (where the top gear boys ran out of air and ran away) Death Valley (where NASA test their mars landers), and the Salar de Uyuni (see below)

Only downside is I cant rent a Depender, so I'm gonna do it in a rented Prado (stupid slitty will probably kill me) :D
 
Wow! That was an expensive day. Broke a few bits, door lock failed, so I bought a new door with wolf sliding windows, it was an early 110 door so door latch was different, ended up buying new Series door lock for it.
Killed another Fan in the mud hole, plus I think I've done the Alternator too, not too worried about that as I've got another on the shelf.
Radiator got clogged with mud, overheated the engine and split the bottom hose, so taped up running repair to get home.
Bought a challenge winch bumper, just what I've been looking for, perfect. The guy had fitted it to his challenge truck and now has a newer model. Unused, £120 got to be the bargain of the year.
Hit the Bolt on bits stand and saw their new Series style LED lights, totally waterproof and super bright, so had to have a set of them.
Fancied a change of colour too, so I'm going Satin NATO Green, got a deal on the paint and it matches the Wolf rim colour too.
Series one goes tomorrow, just as well as I could do with the money to replace what I've spent.

Got back from Billing meself about an hour ago.

Had a wedding Sat night in Newport Pagnall and trashed doesnt do it justice I was wasted.

Anyways got up billing today I got lots of odds and ends,

4x Red Brake lights for the offroader 2x brake and 2 running lights,
Various rubber grommets,
2x defender throttle pedal assemblies,
light lenses for my 90,
2x rear wheel spats for my 90,


Slush and walking alot is an amazing hangover cure!!!

Even had Rachel looking for bits!!

All of that, the bumper is recessed into the front light panel now, pretty much 90 degree approach angle.
I daren't post pictures of it in case you make a mess in you pants. It's the best bumper I've ever seen.

Lol!

Billing was Ok bit dead couldn't buy new std parts for love nor money. Had rachel scouting for throttle pedals, spats and the like
was a good hang over cure slush and a 3 hr walk!
 
I'm trying to find out if any of you guys fit wading plugs when going off roading and through water. I'd never thought about putting them in but after reading a thread about it I wondered what your all doing. Will it cause cam belt and clutch problems leaving them out.

Leave em in

Remove every now and then and especially after wading to let any crap out and put back in again that way you wont lose them ;)

Only if the bellhousing gets filled with water ;)
 
I put both in when there's any risk of water. The timing case one is essential, but the bell housing one is a waste of time and I think I'm going to forget about that one from now on. If the water is deep it just pours into the bloody great hole where the starter motor is, the plug just stops it draining out again.

Do you think it would be wise to change belt although it had a new one last year. I've been through a lot of mud and water in the last 18 months without ever putting plug in. Don't think I've even got one. Doesn't water get through the cover anyway.
 
Timing case on mine is watertight with the plug in, mine screws into a hole next to the drain hole when not in use so you can't lose it. Bell hosing plug I keep in the top of my tool box. It's worth checking the state of the inside of the timing case as a belt failure is kind of expensive
