Hertfordshire Lanes?????

we've all heared about the landyzone calendar, wot about a Herts laners Calendar? Just means its more localised and we will know the motors and people on it. Might be a terrible idea wot do people think?
 
Sounds gud some people get put off going to events/ meets far away as we own land rovers and not 100% sure if our landy's will make it without breaking down lol.

Or in my Hippos case - bottoming out in a pot hole or drowning in a puddle!! :D
 
One good thing about us Herts lot is we do what we can. We never leave anoyone behind. We will **** take if somone is always breaking down or never does any maintainance that causes a failure but to date we always stay to make sure everyone is ok, the motor is fixed, recovered or everyone is safe and ok. Its'like an unwritten rule. We all do it and we have all done it for others. My wheel bearing swindon, spydermans wheel bearing bedford, gibbo phill whaddon etc etc. We do our best to keep everyone moving inc the odd get you home fix which I quite enjoy occasionally.
 
getting stuck is not usually an issue somone will be able to get you out. We have done lots of recovery work. All we need is decent recovery points on all vehicles front and back. With only one extreme exception we have got everyone back same day.
 
Lol well everyone is always tugged out if need be. One of the best laning trips I've done there was nobody that got stuck at all not even close. That was thetford with Beaker, Booger and Screwy driving a couple of feet from a Canal is quite fun with the back end sliding all over the place!!
 
Hi Guys,

I'm based in Leighton Buzzard and have just purchased a '98 Disco. I would like to start a bit of green laning but need to sort a few things out on the old girl (don;t we all?)

What are the absolute "Must Haves" to be able to come out to play with you guys and are you open to complete novices?

I have a decent agricultural looking tow bar on the rear and assume I need to install some Jate rings or similar for the front? I was planning on removing the front valance and fogs anyhow.

Any help appreciated.

Hi and Welcome!

Front and rear rated recovery points such as tow ball rear and jate fronts are the only must have. A couple of rated shackels is always worthwhile to have handy. (A sense of humour for us sad lot) A decent 8 meter rope and a couple of shackels would be handy if you really get into in after a few trips out. I reckon you could be greenlane ready after about £30 worth. A couple of jates and a couple of shackles. Jai

As been said, Front & Rear Recovery points a must. Everything else we've got, so you can come out with us see what you need and go from there.
We will not leave you behind anywhere. If it goes pear shaped with the group you go out with and they can't get you out, International Rescue is only a phone call away. We're mates, we'll come out to help any time any place.
 
its like our constitution or unwritten rule that we extract people. Usually around midnight in the middle of nowhere we do have a laugh at the same time!
 
Wasn't there a young lady with a Hippo that came out on a laning day?

Road tyres and 2WD only, because the previous owner had disconnected it and hadn't told her, didn't get very far.

Oh you just had to bring that one up didn't you! Well if a hippo is joining us maybe I'll lose the Ryder cup before xmas! LOL:D
