Help with this cable?!?!

Hi Guys

decided I would give me depender its first service. quite a novice but it all went well until i got to the fuel filter..

removed old filter, unscrew then replace with new filter then I saw this!



any ideas what this could be? should it be attached the the filter and I missed it when i took the old one off

please help!

forgot the mention its a 96 300tdi...

It's the end of one of yer gearbox breathers - it's sposed to be like that.

Did you fill your pants or were you just touching cloth?

You may have hoicked a fuel pipe out, probably the main feed from the pump.

I say that because there's a suspiciously empty looking hole on the filter head.

Your picture was so small it's hard to see the detail but it looks like that plastic pipe may belong in the hole on the filter head marked with the INWARDS arrow.

Operate the lift pump a couple of skooshes and if fuel flies out that pipe you should perhaps consider it might be the fuel supply, and perhaps it should be a bit nearer the fuel filter than that.

I would ask for another piccy showing the whole filter head but that would wipe out my broadband allowance for two months.

I rekon that inward port is blanked off charlsey, as the heads are multi uses

blood hell, you must have real good eyes if you can see the oil filter...condidering its a pic of fuel filter

but yes i do have britpart, parts...i bought them a few months ago with the intention of fitting them but didn't have the balls and hadn't heard the horror stories at the time what else would you recomend instead of britpart?

Anything is better than britpart to be honest. I believe they contract the making of the parts out to the lowest bidder - Therefore crap parts..
