Well, firstly..'hi all'

i have just bought a 1989 v8 disco.. it is a carb model. It has twin underslung tanks.

But..... it wont run on gas.!!

It will tickover on gas, but as soon as you try to give it any throttle it dies.

Although i have rebuilt landies and other 4x4's, custom bikes etc, i have no idea when it comes to lpg systems as i have never had one..

guess what i'm saying is, i know my way round a spanner but dont know where to start with this..

thank you all in advance.........:D

Have you tried driving along on petrol then hitting the switch to switch to gas to see if she will continue going?

Some twot (me) fitted the gas filters on the wrong way round, it was kinda starving it of gas causing rough running

thanks guys.... what do the filters look like for lpg's... and are they something you can change yourself.?

I tried running it at higher revs, about 3ooo, and there was a strong smell of gas. There is fuel in it, i filled it yesterday..(and felt quite smug at 50p a lt..)

Depends really, small cylinder shaped things about the size of an egg on mine, mine are found between the condensor and the injector rail

If your getting a strong smell of gas then something aint right, I do believe there is a safety shut off valve in the tank, i think if gas was exiting the system faster than it should be, ie when you accelerate it could be opening a hole up in a pipe etc) and shutting off the valve

The shiny things are the filters....

i had a single point system on my p38 it would only tick over but not rev and every now and then it would blow the airbox lid off that was caused by the gas injector put a new one on and it ran a treat

On Lpg I get about 19 or 20 mpg, on petrol a little more but I am thinking of chipping the efi system, does anyone know if this effects the gas running at all or is still the same? Its a 96 V8 3.9 and I love it, wouldnt change it now let alone get anything else

its now running on gas..............:D

how much of a happy bunny am i....:p

had a fiddle with some bits (how technical is that then...) and its A..OK
