hi

Am pulling me hair out trying to find a fitting

Wish to go from a R134 yellow hose to a tyre shrieder valve

Can I find one can I hell , desperately trying to find one online and wondering if u such kind peeps would be so kind to help me plse

Hope that makes sense , is basically so I can put a tyre inflated shrieder from my air compressor onto the yellow R134 hose

Once connected I can then put some air into the system I can start looking for leaks,by soaping joints , know it should be filled with nitrogen but will only be a few psi, external air compressor has two dryers inline to keep the air as dry and possible , will then after pull a vacuum to remove the damp air

Fit the new condenser / dryer , retest to ensure everything is sound by pressure then vacuum , then get it professionally re gassed and correct amount of PAG oil added , that way I know it’s all been properly done

Does anyone know some links for AC fittings plse as they are indeed a weird size, nothing else will fit

Thks so much and any help would be extremely grateful

What's the inner thread of that yellow hose, 1/4 maybe?

Hi mate

Bless and as always appreciate the help

Taken some pics which I hope will help with ref to size

The separate fitting on the Male size fits into the yellow hose, female side on the fitting is to big , it’s just to show a better pic of the thread

Thks so much once again and as always most appreciated

As it’s only a few psi and you have valves, could you not rig some hose and clips?

The problem is you are dealing with gas fittings which they tend not to want air with so getting an adapter might not be easy.

Plus looking at vacuum pumps there over

Many thks, I have ordered a different type of tyre inflator gun that has the rubber nozzle , on the end so can then at least inflate it to a few psi , also has a few other attachments

Good call as I’ve got different hose sizes and some ear clips

Also looking at air vacuum pumps as I want to test it with pressure and vacuum, that when the garage does it I know it’s 100% and will just need refilling inc adding the PAG oil

Had a thought ref the vacuum, have a brake fluid changing gun that connects to my air compressor , I’ve never used, so thinking about using that as I can’t see any point spending out £100 just to use an item once or twice,

Hopefully theory it should work , clear hose I’ll change for a better hose ive got in the shed , as I can see that clear tubing just collapsing

So with the quotes I’ve had by just doing the condensor, replacing the O rings that are assessable , finding any other leaks , replacing the high and low shrieder pins can save myself £2-300

So fingers crossed the brake fluid vacuum gun should in theory work, he says, lol

Also just thought , I’ve got my T max tyre compressor , might be alot easier to use than the 50 x litre compressor

Thks again

According to this(description at the end) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-Car-A...842063?hash=item56c2e2f84f:g:dfgAAOSwDmxcLy-U seems that the thread is 1/4", i couldn't find in any UK store, they come from US (google out Milton S-684-4 1/4" NPT Tank Valve) or from China https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/x2-1-4-N...ressor-Tank-Fill-Valve-Schrader-/292307205080

Perfect thk u so much and indeed that looks like the ideal thing ,, awesome

What do u think about using the vacuum brake kit please or do u think it will be of trying it out and see what happens

Thks again

That vacuum kit ideea seems nice but i can't tell how efficient it would be... you'll see if you try

Thks and indeed as u say abit of the unknown , if it does work at least will save me some pennies,

Will let u know how it goes

Always appreciate the kind help , thank u

Can you adapt anything to the inlet port on your small compressor that would pull a vac. Not sure how much though.

Many thks , the T max has crimped connectors on the hoses so nothing can be undone or put inline

Only thing is the shrieder valve at the end

If that adaptor fits that would be perfect as could then use the T max instead of the large compressor

Have ordered it so hopefully won’t take too long to be delivered

Nothing like a challenge to get the old brain thinking , lol

I was suggesting the air in port, they sometimes have a small filter that can be unscrewed.

Apologises , no ur right there is a small screw in filter , trouble is I assume I can’t use that as it will suck ac oil out of the system and into the tyre compressor, but a good great thought

Ah yes you don’t want to pull oil in the compressor, I think not sure wouldn’t it just pump it straight out?

But come on I saw all your fancy gadgets/tools on Henry’s thread you got a bottle you could put in line that might let the oil drop out?

Saving money, learning, and keeping gray matter moving :)

Indeed, going to try the brake vacuum bleeder , as any oil should then go into the white brake bleeding bottle

Refuse to spend silly money on a vacuum pump I would only use once or twice

Fancy tools, where , where , all essentials and can never have enough tools , lol, the joys of owning a disco and there thks to my pops getting them for me over the last 3 x years , found them invaluable and made the world of difference having the right tools

Plus thought at the end of the day can pass them all onto my son

Will indeed update the thread of how well that brake bleeder works , hopefully won’t need plan B, lol

Can never have enough tools:)

I have a load of “hand me downs” from my dad. With all sorts of little home made adaptors. For what? Never know I may find out 1 day :)

But often find it’s cheaper and easier to get the right tools before starting a job. But as you say a vac pump that may never get used again could be a waste. So often have to look around at what can be done with what’s in the garage.

Anyway keep up the great work :) you will be opening your window to warm up soon:eek:

Hiya

Same with my pops , given me a lot of his spanner’s etc

Erm please don’t throw anything at me, look what I found in the shed , a vacuum oil extractor , so going to see via the AC manifold of what kind of vacuum it will pull, its container is 7 x litres

Could kick myself as I forgot I had it , oooops

Also doesn’t matter in the slightest if it starts to pull any PAG oil out

I’ll get my coat and tin hat on

Not gonna say anything;)

You got all the toys:)

Cold cabin here we go:D

Lol

Just put a vacuum gauge on to test it , also used an isolating valve therefore once the vacuum is pulled, can turn the valve off if I wish to

Don’t mind going through all this hassle if it means I’ll save a few hundred quid,

Would have thought I only need to pull an atmosphere

So spent some time creating a rig to test the aircon , either by pressure of vacuum

Using the oil extraction for the vacuum

Then for pressure can use the T max tyre compressor or with the foot pump

Installed isolating valve to shut off the oil extractor

Also spent abit of extra time adding the facility of a shrieder valve as this test rig can now be used to find leaks on the suspension , same again either by pressure or vacuum

Little while ago also got the pliers to aid removal of the plastic pipe from the quick release fittings , believe they can also be used on the fuel filter fittings

Hopefully everyone hasn’t nodded off
