help my windscreen is leaking guy at the garage said its not the sunroof whats the cheapest way i can repair this ? please help

I have the same problem. Depends on how I'm parked and how heavy the rain falls. From what I've seen, the water runs off the gutter at the front passenger side and then down behind the rubber into the car. I thought about peeling back the rubber and filling it with sealant and putting it back.

Mine hardly ever leaks so I cant be bothered, thats the least of the probs at the mo with the P gasket. However if it is a prooblem on yours, what have you got to lose other than about £2 worth of sealant?

this help took about 1/2 an hour, did the sides as well though

I thought my windscreen seal on my '97 Discovery 300TDi auto had a leak but it turned out the body sealant on the join next to the left hand bonnet hinge had cracked and was letting water in. Had to remove the plastic plenum trim on that side to get to it and smear Sikaflex on the crack, all good now. To find the fault after sticking my head up under the dash to see where the water was coming in I sprayed the suspect area with soapy water and using the air duster on my compressor I blasted air up the body join. You will see bubbles on the leak. It is that simple

I had that problem with my 300 TDI after having a new screen fitted. I used clear silicon as thats all i had at the time and it worked perfect, that was 2 years ago and its still OK. I did seal all across the top and about 2 inches down each side, I put plenty on the rubber side then wiped of the excess and used some tape to get the rubber as close as possible and left the tape on for about a week just to be sure it had dried. Sunroofs don't leak but still got some left just incase.

mine used to leak..then in a fit of rage with the driver's seat i kinda needed a replacment screen(i rammed the seat forward and spidered the screen big time :S)..

once i fitted a new screen(well a cheep one of egay) it hasent leaked..

so maybe try just resitting the screen's sealing rubber(i used the old rubber as a new one was 117 quid )

Amazing considering that my windscreen is YET again loose at the bottom nearside corner.......... but it is still not leaking, just blows a gale through at speed. Dont get how it has not yet leaked....... sure it will.
Seems the only cure is a new screen, dont attempt to seal it, it wont work!
