I am experiencing a whirring and clicking sound from the box under the glove compartment. The noise becomes apparent when the key is first turned without starting the engine. Has anyone experienced this and if so, did you find out what was the cause. I would take the car to a dealer but I live in France and my nearest Landrover garage is 50 miles away. :frown: Vehicle is an 06 TD4 sport 5 door mk1.

I'm no expert,

But,

Could it be the fuel burner trying to fire up, assuming you have one fitted, it's in that area.

But then again, It's on the left in the front wheel arch an RH drive TD4's, what have you got?

Thanks, I am probably even less of an expert. I have a RHD exported from the UK. Just checked again and no warning lights come on. Could it be the cooling fan for the engine management system? Is that located under the glovebox?

does it make a difference or make the sound if you operate the recycle switch for the air con ? (the one with three arrows in a circle?) sounds like the control flaps moving when the ignition is turned on

Thanks. Tried that this morning and BINGO. Next question, how do I fix the fault?
