Hi.
I have been looking about and getting some insurance quotes for my 1993 discovery and the prices im been quoted are crazy, they are ranging from £450 to £1200
Can anyone recomend any good insurance companys that are not out to try and rip me off with prices like the above.

My info
Im 45 years young, i have held my licence for 12 years, 10 years no claims bonus, i do about 5000 miles a year roughly,i am curently unemployed
I have a discovery 1993, 2595cc factory fitted alarm,
I would like to pay by installments with me been unemployed.

Any advice would be appreciated please.

I have been with Adrian flux for a few years, and have just renewed my insurance with them. I agree with tmm the prices are rediculous, i am 42, been driving since 1986 and have 10yrs plus no claims. My insurance has just cost £543.00. My previous car a 1996 4.6hse range rover cost £340 last year, fully comp with protected no claims and breakdown and £250 xcess.
I know my disco is a little newer than the range rover was but discos seem dearer to insure in general.
The best quote i had was swintons, the girl on the phone sounded very enthusiastic when saying "we have a marvelous quote for you", "Really" i said "yes £1243.00" she said. She wasn`t so enthusiastic after.
Try Ecar on the net they wernt too bad or LV, every one else was talking £750 and up, and wanted £450 xcess.
Good luck
Mark

try moneysupermarket.com for some offers.

in the end i went to adrian flux, 1994 disco 1 300tdi, 48yrs old, 3000 mile limit, £1900 value, zero no claims as its my 2nd car, driveway parked.

Total was £120 for TPF&T

i was impressed.

Ecar Quote for me is

TMM did you by any chance send Adrian Flux an email? they are very slow to get back to you (if at all) just call them direct 0800 369 8590.

moneysupermarket and others are worth a shot too but just check the insured value if you speak to anyone, one company tried to knock £2000 off the value of my other car.

This is Looking like its the best i can get, Once over age and lots of years NCD made a differrance with insurance now i dont think it makes that much difference

Fookin ell you must be doing something wrong. I paid 88 quid fully comp for my disco last year with swinton. I'm now driving a s3 109 which I've insured with sureterm for 84 quid fully comp. I'm 45 with a clean licence and full no claims. Have you got a dodgy postcode or something?
