I feel a bit of a pratt now.............
Yesterday, after test driving a few miles, the brakes were pulling to the right. When I got back, it was getting dark. I had a quick look underneath and I could see some swivel grease on the back of the offside swivel housing. I also wiped my finger across the nearside disc and there was a film of swivel grease on there. So, I jumped to the conclusion that I had the same problem as before - i.e. swivel grease passing the inner stub-axle seal, travelling along the driveshaft and back past the hub seal to exit behind the hub.
Lesson 1 - don't jump to conclusions.
This morning, I had a closer look in daylight. There was no sign of grease coming out of the back of the hubs. I took the drive members off and there was no grease in there either.
On the offside, there was a small amount of grease that had leaked out of the big swivel ball seal. The seal is nearly new and looks perfect, so I think the leak could be just as a result of me over-filling the swivel.
On the nearside, there was a film of grease over both faces of the disc and I was sctatching my head as to where it could have come from. Then I realised that I couldn't see any daylight through the holes in my drilled and slotted disc. Those holes were full of grease from the last leak - I hadn't cleaned the fooker properly! Whilst driving, the disc had obviously warmed up and the grease had started to flow out of the holes.
So, I thouroughly cleaned both discs and swivel balls, including poking some rag through every hole in the disc, and took it for another test drive. NO MORE LEAKAGE OR GREASE ON THE DISC.
I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm optimistic.
Many thanks to all those that made suggestions!
