hi folks,my orange engine mangement light is on my 2000 4.6 vogue,

ive tried the emergency fuel cut off, different keys, fuses, relays but still the same,

anybody help please?

im not sure if its the wireless network [playing up with the transponder on the ecu in the car and the ecu needs remapping.

i had this problem a while back on my 97 2.5dhse where i locked teh car by the fob and woke up in th emorning with a flat brand new battery and found out it was the wireless,i then charged the battery and only locked the car by the key in door and never had a problem again.

all help appreciated many thanks

? so your saying you have the mil light on and engine runs or it won't start?

If first then you a scan of engine management fault codes

do the generic obd stuff take the light out, it should read the codes but some cant get the light off!

if its a recurring fault you might aswell purchase an elm327 off ebay

it will only do the engine ecu but for about 30 quid it will tell you whats wrong and save a few quid going to garages. not sure if it will turn light off(never had it on mine) and you'll need software for it(usually supplied) but i can point you in the right direction for software if you need it! you will also require a laptop but most folk have one these days or you can use a loooong lead from your desktop!!

this is the first time that this has done this,i know the previous owner very very well and this never happened to him,its just strange how id had it back at mine for 24hrs and its happened,i will try to re connect the battery later and let you know but prob be the same.

Wireless networks, wireless doorbells and weather stations and two-way or ham radio equipment can all interfere with the battery and electronics of the P38 and cause peculiar problems, even from neighbours properties. Its possible the RF transmitter or one of the ECUs has become confuddled by a wireless signal. Will prob need resetting via Faultmate or Rovacom or similar - you will need diagnostics.

connected the battery tonight and still same got a chap coming out on saturday, spoke to one place today told them that id disconnected the battery and he told me thats buggered it now i will need a complete re programme install and the ecu would have gone in safe mode????????????????

i think he kidding you i would think the worst it has gone out of sync. but the light comming on is some thing you will need to sort first

what disc will i need 2009?or are they just a standard disc

If it helps, you need a 2009 cd for your car. I have a 2000 year car and it is fitted with the Carin MKII sat nav. Your car might have the same, I don't know when they introduced the MKIII sat nav. I bought my cd last year 2008 and its still pretty current. I got mine off ebay from a lady in Germany. She was very helpfull in telling me what disc I needed. Obviously you need one that covers the UK but other discs are available for parts of Europe
