Help to get DVD working

Hi All,

I'm new to this site but wondered if anyone can help me with the following:

I've just bought a 2010 Range Rover Autobiography TD8, and i'm really happy with it. However, there is a DVD button on the radio/sat nav console, but I cant find out where to put the DVD? I've tried it in the CD changer in the glove box, but I'm fairly suire that this should just be for CD's. Maybe I can't play DVDs in the car (which wouldn't be the end of the earth) but seeing as it has a dedicated DVD button on the unit, I was kind of thinking that it should be available...

So my question is... does anyone else have a Range Rover 2010 that has a DVD button but does not have anywhere to put the DVD disk? Can anybody point me in the right direction?

wud that be the sat nav disc you just tried changing?

and the DVDs in the boot?

have yu looked at the user handbook?

Thanks guys...

The glove box is a 6 cd multichanger, not sat nav.

Apparently the sat nav is on hard disk, so no chance of sticking it in there by mistake

The manual doesn't talk about where to 'stick the disk' which is a little strange.

I have checked in the boot (on the left hand side where all the electrical 'kit' is) but couldn't see anything.

PS - I can't afford a butler, I spent all my pennies on this beast :-(

I might be way off here; I can't afford a Rangie, let alone a butler to do things for me, but from the way I read this, a radio deals with sounds from different sources.

This leads me to think that the DVD button is for switching the audio input on the radio to the audio circuits of a DVD player allowing the sound to be played through the existing amp and speakers.

If this is the case then one would assume that such a DVD player would be an "optional extra" either as a factory fit or an aftermarket unit.

If all else fails, RTFM.

is there a slot in the headunit itself? if so, is this the DVD slot?
have a look on the changer itself, if its DVD compatible it should have the dvd symbol on it. ie

if it just has the CD audio symbol
ie.

its not a DVD unit

This might be a stupid question but does it have a screen to watch the DVDs?

(I'd ask my butler but he's missing)

I asked my butler... he looked confused and politely explained he's responsible for making me food and drinks and shining my shoes, not my cars.

Maybe I should have asked the mechanic.

Anyway, they are "standard" head units across all models, some have the optional extras such as the DVD player, some don't. But, the buttons are still there. Sounds like yours doesn't have the TV package.

The DVD player should be in the boot, you should have tv screens in the back of the head rests for the kids. It won't let you watch TV in the front whilst driving unless you crack it. Don't do this. Have some consideration for everyone else on the road.

Do you have the TV areial? Might help hint if you should have the TV package or not.
