OK turning into a nightmere job this...
Bought recon Box, Drop Arm and Damper...

After having to grind a chassis nut that was rounded off I got the old steering box off...
Drop arm I bought was wrong one....great!! Bought the one with the Balljoint in it and Mines the one with the hole at each end...(order correct one now)

I can not get the old arm off....its stuck on for good I think...no sign of weld but my god its as tho its welded on!!!

Ordered another Correct arm and lock washer, but other than a pack of 10 on fleebay cannot find the NUT...i.e. the nut that holds the arm to the steering box...the ball joint at the other end came off ok (part of the steering arm) and I have a box of split pins so sorted with that and looks faily new.
Also need ONE chassis to steering box BOLT having had to grind the end off...again con't find...

So has anyone got chassis bolt or the type of bolt it is, and a nut? Or can someone tell me the NUT size and thread again etc...I'm sure I can find a bolt either in my garage or at DIY shop...

Been on it all day...been a real pain!! Made fitting a new boot floor seem like a peice of P.

Anyway I'm sure the place I got the recon BOX off will have them and will ring Monday as they are closed now....but want to keep my options open....need it back on the road ASAP in case we get more snow!!

THANKS CHAPS!!

I need one of the 4 bolts that go through the chassis as I had to grind the nut head off.
I need the nut that holds the drop arm to the steering box as can not get the old one off at all...

nt614041 yes thats the Drop arm NUT but can only seem to buy 10 of them for £22 in uk or 6 of them for £20 from Germany!! I only want one....:(

d2 is a much worse job ,bottom hose and thermostat housing hinder the fitting of box

OH dear...nice to know its not just me who will be having a headache!! (Sorry)

Anyway, found another site, nut was 98p so ordered that and service kit...it had better be good to me now...I'm treating it to gear box oil change and diffs, engine oil and filter inc fuel, and of course PAS oil will be fresh too when I get the box fitted!!!

I have a rumage in the garage for another BOLT, but as you say there will be the others so its not going anywhere until I get my hands on one...

Just hope everything I just ordered arrives for next weekend then I can get it done...

Looks like I'm driving around in a brand new CLS Merc loaner for a while...someone ran in back of the Jag few weeks ago....lets hope my Luck and the Disco's changes!!

Detron II makes me laugh too.....it looks like the Disco has been BLEEDING.....lol (its red)

Bought enough for steering and gearbox....

I got mine off with a bolster chisel and a lump hammer, I seem to remember that there a lugs either side of the arm to help get it off. I'll be removing mine again on tuesday as my reconditioned box I fitted in September has started leaking and needs to be changed

Tried this, but was just chiseling bits of the NUT off...I tell you its on good an propper...that said having soaked over with WD40 I may give it one last try tomorrow...but already ordered new...
But for that nut and the one bolt I'd prob have the new one on and the damper!
Well, its 20years old after all.....but begining to think I should have spent the money it now stands me at on one that "may" have been better...but wheres the fun in that I say!! Plus its and ES model too....:)

Steering box on and bled with new Dextrox II. So Drivable...

Was unable to get nuts off the Damper so soaked in WD and left..

Gearbox oil change can wait too...its to cowd...(cold)
