I have electric fan i can have on constant and drive slow, about 3 miles, will it damage anything else?

Temperature gauge works as it should. Have done a mile and just parked up in a safe place now for engine to completely cool down before i try again

Just drove on tick over crawling along and temperature gauge seemed steady and below normal temp

As serp belts can be inspected every time the bonnet is opened and even if found there's some wear and showing cracks in the rubber they will still last a few thousand + miles, so why did yours snap?

Hearing about them breaking is a first for me in my 19 years of interest in a "serpentine" belt among other things, only because my disco has one, they do appear to harden and cracks start to appear, so time to think about replacement sometime maybe, then it only takes 10 minutes to replace which I did once... years ago. :)

Tensioner failure is not uncommon

Will the gauges even properly register the head temp without coolant flow? The sender is in the stat housing, IIRC, not the head.

I guess alloy and water will conduct fairly quickly.

It is a recent belt about 2 yrs old (2k max mileage a year) and i do inspect but never saw any wear.

Will it help driving on tick over with the bonnet slightly open to get air in to the engine?

Annoying that there is no where safe for me to leave it and just over a mile to home :(
