Hi, this is my first post so please go easy on me!

I have a 90 and have put a 300tdi engine and box in it. The mechanicals of the conversion are all done, but I am struggling on the wiring. I have the loom from the donor discovery, but have read that the original 90 loom can be used with only a few minor mods. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to wire the 300 into the 90 loom and what alterations I need to make to the loom, if any?

Thanks.

I was always under the impression that it was just a simple "plug & play" game but I might be wrong. Which version of the 300TDi do you have? If it has the ECU and fly-by-wire throttle there will be some extra wiring involved although I'm not quite sure what. One thing for certain is that you'll need to replace the temperature sender because it'll read in accurately with the dial on your dash.

It has a cable operated throttle, but I'm confused as to what this connector is for on top of the injection pump...

Some people are saying you can just remove this part as its something to do with the imobiliser and others are saying you can't. I found this page where a chap did the same conversion and has used the same pump by the looks of it... Landrover 110 engine page

prob not of any help but- ive just swapped my td for a 200tdi, kept the loom on the engine and just wired up to existing loom- the wires were all the same colour etc.. i dont know what the module is on your 300tdi pump (200tdi hasnt got it) one thing i did do, which i felt made life easier was swap the instrument clusters anowl.. that way i had the same speedo ratio as the transfer box and the right gauge for the temp sender.. (saved me alot of faffing about) plus i gained a rev counter:D:D

if that is the fuel solanoid, obviously you will need to reconnect it, i presume your original engine was N/A, try swapping the solanoids if you can't get the new one to work. connect a battery to the engine and send a live to the solanoid to see if it operates.LEE

All done now thanks, was prety much plug and play, just had to change the ends on the alternator wiring and the temp sender. Works a treat now.

That connector on the pump is for the egr valve. The fuel solonoid is underneath the pump near the back.
