hi all,
got home from work yesterday 2 hours before heading out for a weekend green laning to find a huge puddle under the rear diff. now its been dropping a spot or two a day for the last 2 months so it wasnt really a problem. but seeing as i was off to the middle of wales for a weekend i decided to change the seal before i left i had a spare.
so an hour later the seal is changed and all is bone dry. 40 miles in to the trip my mates Suzuki SJ
blows a rear oil seal and sprays oil over the rear brakes which were bindinng and lots and lots of smoke later he is on the rexovery truck and we are all heading home.
i checked this morning and my rear diff pinion seal is leaking again. i have a 2" lift, 300tdi defender.
why is it leaking? the new seal went in nice and tight and square.
the input shaft thpugh moved in and out about an inch when the prop and flang had been removed is the normal?
