Hi everybody
I changed my front airbags/suspension on my range rover 2005 l322 a few months ago and everything has been fine until now.
My battery was really weak and the car would not start because there was no power but when it would the Air Suspension Inactive light would come up and I wouldn't be able to change the settings. But when it was on and you drove it for a few mins the air suspension would go back to normal and you can control it.

So I decided to change the battery and bought a new batt but the suspension light won't go off now even when you drive it. I cant control the suspension at all. But when you get out of the car the suspension rises it self to normal ride height so there won't be anything wrong with the air compressor? Or suspension legs?
Got it plugged in to diagnostics comp and error fault was canbus fault/error?
Anyone have any ideas what I can do? Before I take it to dealers and they have my pants down.
I've also got a brake fluid leak down passenger side but that can't be causing the problem can it?

try to reset it by turning the steering into l/h lock and holding for 3 secs, then r/h lock and hold for 3 secs. if not it needs to be diagnosed with dealer equipment i think. i had a friend that had one boosted and its left him with a bill for £1200. hope its a simple fix for you.

Holy F**K LOL
Thanks for the reply guys, I've just tried it still no luck.
When I turn the car on, it takes around 20-30 seconds for the inactive light to come on and the light on the air suspension control.
All I know is, break fluid needs sorting and the car needs a service.

Did his come up with can bus error?
That's what mine is coming up with and I've tried resetting it but it comes straight back.

Can bus error that is linked to #abs as well as suspension possibly a sensor
Had any wheels up or off recently
Have you not got a RSW mkIII if not get one I had canbus reset it easily

Hi mate I've got 22" alloys and put 4 brand new tyres on size 295 35 22 but the rear one had a big rip in them, because alloy had a crack in it. So I got the crack welded and put the 295's on the front and but 285 35 22 on the rears. But I only done that today.
But when I replaced the battery it wouldn't go off and that was a week ago and the tyre ripped a few days ago.
What is a rsw mkIII? Sorry I'm not good with that stuff lol.
But I reset the canbus today but it just kept popping up so I'm not sure what to do. Thought I'd ask on here before I take it dealers and get bent over. Lol

Thanks for the reply highly appreciated pal

Also because I've got a leak in the brake fluid pipe, there's no brake fluid and the light has come on dashboard. The pedal is really spongey and when you put foot on it you have to push it all the way to the bottom for the brakes to work.
Has this got anything todo with it?

as the brakes are used for HDC if youve got low fluid it will probably turn off the HDC , if the suspension doesn't reset with the turn of the wheel then it almost certainly needs sticking on a diagnostic , ABS sensors are a good candidate as it uses the wheel speeds on different systems

The EAS ABS HDC and etc are all linked...a fail in one will bring the others down in sympathy....

The fact you have a brake issue could be the cause of the EAS fault....

But if you have turned lock to lock to reset the steering angle sensor and the fact it takes 20 seconds to fault, leads me to think it is a brake/ABS issue...lack of brake pressure maybe....is there any other warnings lit on the dash???

Could be a dicky ABS sensor, i had similar and it turned out to be chaffed wire on one of the front sensors....the way they are routed means when you turn the wheel they rub on the inside of the rim!!!

Had a similar one, HDC blah blah, turned out to be steering angle sensor, get it on diagnostics, but fix the fluid leak first you never know!

Thanks everyone for the help its been really helpful.
The car has just gone in the garage now to get the brake fluid leak sorted and to have a major service. I've also asked the mechanic to check if the abs sensors are ok or if they will need changing.
Hopefully with the break leak sorted the air suspension should sort if self out.
Fingers crossed.
Ill keep you guys updated and let you know what's happened.

What's the steering angle sensor?
When the guy put it on diagnostic machine, he said something about steering angle sensor and tried to straighten the wheel out bla bla. But he said the fault keeps coming up on machine.
Anyone know what that is and how I can sort it?

See post 14:)
Steering angle sensor is on the bottom of the column, used to get steering geometry information to other systems ECU's (I think). It is a 6 hour job by LR standards IIRC but can be done quicker with two people, will need a reset/coding to vehicle after fitting, where I am it was cheaper to buy a BMW X5 one as they are the same but cheaper than the LR one, funnily enough BMW and LR are owned by the same company, still cant work out Arab logic after 10yrs!

Hi All,
I have abs and air suspension warning showing up after removing the battery.
I needed to change my wiper relay which stupidly some 'engineer' thought clever to hide behind the battery.
Car was running faultlessly before i did this.

My wife then reminded me there was a proceedure i should have followed.

Anyone had practcal experience on how to resolve this? I cant imagine there are faulty sensors etc given it was perfect before removing battery. Its a 2003 4.4
