theres obviously a cross connection or a short somewhere. youre gonna need to get a multimeter and check to see if the brake light is shorted to the headlights-and if they are, which i suspect, you are going to nave to find out where by elimination!1 ie disconnecting things(lights etc)one at a time etc, you might be lucky and find it early, but 'wires' dont tend to short, the shorts are normally found in light clusters etc, happy hunting

had this appin once on the brother in laws ****roen, turnt out he,d put a single pole bulb into a double poled holder an was shortin across everytime he hit the brakes he flashed anurl :D

it could be the filiment in the brakelight bulb broken an welded itself onto the sidelight filiment causeing power to flow down the sidelight circuit also operating your headlights when you press your brakes single pole bulbs will not fit in double filiment bulb holders the pins on the side of the bulb are ofset
