My D1 300v8 3.9 auto has a shiny wading kit comprising the following ready to go on..

4 x threaded/ push fit 90deg fittings

1 x 2into 1 y type push fitting

1 x push fit to push fit elbow

1 x 5 way manifold

Oodles of black 6mm pipe

However, I haven't found where to fit it all - 2 of the threaded fittings I'm assuming screw in place of the breathers on the front and rear axles, but well after that, I'm stumped. I could find the rest given enough time I'm sure but I've only got tonight to fit them as the workshop won't be free for 2 weeks after tonight.
Does anyone have any photos of the locations of what I'd assume must be gearbox and transfer breathers and fuel tank breathers? Is the idea to couple the gearbox and transfer boxes together in the 2 into 1? that would then use all 5 ports on the manifold I guess...
Please help :D ta muchly!

one on gearbox and one on transfer box, also one on fuel tank, but fuel tank one i just cut bend off origonal one pushed in new pipe(fitted snug)and pushed up a piller inside wheel arch, never used the two way adapters, just ran 4 separate pipes upto manifold then one up the snorkel took about 30 mins start to finish..

I must be being dense or blind because I can't see anything resembling 6mm breather pipe anywhere near the gearboxes, there's nothing obviously tied to che chassis or anywhere. Where do they terminate? The front axle I can see goes up toward the screenwash bottle and the rear one goes up to the driverside on the bodywork just forward of the axle, both end in curled over pipe. Do the autos definitely have breather pipes?

auto box on rear housing lh side transfer box on hi/low selector housing ,pipes normally head on top of boxes up rear of engine

I had problems finding these gearbox buggers too, in the end I was pointed to the existing ones which finish just behind the cylinder head.

The actual banjo bolts are towar the top of the boxes. However if the original ones are fine then just add to those. It worked for me. I then finished the by running up the snorkel and into the top of the ram scoop.

You're not being dense it is just tricky lol

Thats the information i was looking for, thanks James, I can see them both now. Question is, how on earth do I get to them to undo them!?

Yet another question - Does the V8 actually have a fuel tank breather? surely that's what the charcoal canister is for? they wouldn't have another breather venting fumes to atmosphere would they? If the charcoal canister is the one, presumably I can just add to the vent from that and that's everything sorted?

Bloody high tech bloomin complicated bloody modern bloody 3.9s!

Yarp. I know most FI cars don't have a conventional breather - the fuel in an FI car tends to be a bit warmer than in a carb'd car as it's circulated over the hot engine and back to the tank, warmer fuel has a greater tendency to evaporate, hence the greater need to control the evaporative emissions and... charcoal canister....

Still don't know if it has a seperate vent though. Where was yours run to Mr Noisy? oh and waht's your actual name?

The 3.5 efi just has a flow and return back to the tank, then the tank has a simple 8mm breather.

The diesel tank has 1 breather port, the petrol tank has a breather at each corner which join together to one 8mm tube. This exits the tank and is clipped to the boot floor, nice and simple. I extended this and ran it up and into the snorkel. I'm burning my evaporative emissions :D

Cheers, Sam :)

I couldn't find a tank vent other than the charcoal canister but I now have a wading kit and vented distributor :D Think it's about time the ole girl went swimming!
