HELP Please Changing Door Hinges

Decide to have a go and change door hinges.
Got the first bottom hinge off, the two hinges that bolt into the pillar have went in OK, But the two bolts that go into the door will not go through long enough to get a nut on the other end.
Bolts are Excactley the same size as the ones that came out.
Dont know whats went wrong as everything lines up.????:confused:
Looks like Im going to have to leave it till tomorrow, getting too dark now.
 
Think there are two long two short, maybe you put the wrong ones in the post or the hinge isn't tight up to the door

Hinge is flush/ tight up to the door, I have the longer bolts in one comes out a couple of mil, the other just comes flush, impossible to get a nut on either.
 
I found I had to grind around the tops slightly when I fitted new hinges. I suspect they're not made to LR spec anymore, just generic countersunk bolts with a very slightly wider top.

I had same problem but they were ok when I pushed them right into the recess in the hinge and got hinge tight up to door.
Only just enough goes through to get nut on.
hope they work for you in daylight:)
 
As already said above. I used non genuine bolts on genuine hinges and it was the head of the bolt that didn't fit in the hinge recess. I ground the bolts down slightly and they fit a treat

Did not buy a fitting kit, but got everything from local Landrover Specialist, only 10 minute walk from me. He matched part mumbers, only £11.00 for full kit, all bolts are the same size as you would get in other kits advertised.

Try one more time, bang bolt into hinge to see if it'll go any further in, you never know:)
 
Yes the hinges are 'handed', as the pins are angled to accommodate the fact that the body is wider at the bottom than the top. As others have said, the countersunk recesses in the hinges are quite narrow, so the heads of the screws may need a little grinding off the periphery. Even if they came from a Land Rover specialist!

Anyway, you've done the difficult bit, getting the old ones out.

My next job, been spraying the screws for a while now, going to borrow an impact screwdriver to shock them off before messing up the heads.
 
I have recently done this and had the same problem...I ended up giving the bolts a little tap with the hinge off and this seemed to enable them to push in a little further wasn't a problem after this - hope it goes well!!!
