Don't worry about it mate,
I had the same headf**k as yourself with the two gearsticks on my new first time discovery.
What made things worse for me was, i let my boss drive it round the block, he claims to be a landrover enthusiast, and he came back remarking about how well it stuck to the roads with such power.
Yet he found the small gearstick a bit awkward, that'll take some getting used too, he said, when he gets his one.
mmm...i laughed it off, and let it go... now i'm asking questions about diff overhauls and non worling lights.HO HUMmmm:(

what hapens when you put the small gear stick to the left when it is in the n position does the little orange light cum on it the middle below the spedo that looks like the axel with 4 wheels does it drive in this position. if so put the cluch in and see if youcan find the middle of the h and the l the gear stick should push to the left in this position to

Im even laughing at myself for being such a twit,

Ive never had a Land Rover before, and theres no markings on the little lever, so its confusing me
I did read post 3, but when I move the lever over to the LEFT it still dont seem to do owt.

Anybody got a manual for a defender:D :D :D

If you move the lever over to the left it should go in to "lock" , there should be a orange light burning on your dash.
Don't drive on the normal roads in this position , it will break stuff:eek:

Do you have to move it over to left and then to top or bottom of the lever gate?
is this diff lock in hi range or low? maybe this is what he's struggling with now.
i know alittle 'n this makes sense, i guess i'm closer to him in ability and knowledge than the seniors and nondescriptos.

Spurs fan too.

Read post 4 and then think of yer little gearstick having a ladder shapped box where you can move it left or right in either H N or L you can also move it into H N or L when its either Left Diff Lock ON or Right Diff Lock OFF
Does that help??

The Spurs fan bit I can't help ya with :D :D :D
