Hello All,

I have what I expect to be a fuel delivery issue with my 300TDi Auto EDC. Yesterday I was driving along and all of a sudden it started to feel like it was running out of fuel, any throttle input made it feel like it was out of fuel. I stopped and turned it off, after a while of cranking it fired up and ticked over perfect, then spluttered to a stop and now it wont start, the things I have done are;

Replaced Lift Pump
Cleaned filter housing, replaced filter and cleaned fuel lines from lift pump
There is half a tank of diesel in so its not empty :)
The fuel seems to be pulling from the tank fine as I cracked off the lift pump to filter pipe and it comes out well

When cranking and cracking off any injector pipe there is very little fuel coming through of any of them, am I looking at a fuel pump issue, are there any known ones? I dont believe it to be the stop solenoid as when it had fuel it fired up immediately ran for a few seconds then died, its like it now has no fuel at all now. The filter is full, bleed screw cracked and pours diesel when cranked so I dont think its air, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem with identical vehicle

Pyysically check the ffuel level, ie lift boot carpet and pop out the sender unit.
The steel tank sender pipes also rust out pulling in air, the bosch pump can handle a little air, but to much and it is no go time.

Iirc the inj pump has a large round multi plug right next to the pump, check this is tight and the pins clean/straight.

Thanks, fuel level I have checked, plenty of sloshing around in there :D, the sender unit and fittings are less than 12 months old but I will recheck and also check electrical, thanks.

Unfortunately not.my problem started after a mate connected a box of tricks to see why it immobilized itself after being switched off for a few minutes.
Please dont tell me it was a Lynx System. Mine did the same, I plugged in a Lynx System and it thought the ECU was a TD5 and re-wrote some **** to it and that was it, non starter. I had to replace the ECU and Immobilser AS10 unit from a scrapped D1 as a complete unit as they are matched together with fob.

Update, checks all done, electrics are all ok, sender is good and mesh is clear on sender. The question is is are there any tests to do to see if the pump has failed? If it has, with it being and EDC, is another EDC pump a direct replacement or does it need coding to the vehicle?

With ign on but engine off is the inj pump ticking?
Is the thottle potentiometer moving with the thottle pedal?

Why not download a copy of the D1 Land Rover workshop manual 'RAVE' you'll find pages of information on EDC fueling... plus it appears fault finding and repairs from my very quick look at the relevant EDC pages.

I have that so I will have a look now, thanks

My test was done with a machine from Mac tools,it said there was a problem with the feed to the spyder. Now I am no expert but apparently the edc equipped vehicles don’t have anything like that.fitted a different green immobiliser box with fob (same part no.) made no difference.Engine cranks, power to edc pump but won’t deliver fuel. Discovery was running fine after standing for ten months while I overhauled motor took body off chassis and attended to a bit of rust. Even had the wiring harness out.Drove fine, sailed through it’s mot, then a week later this nonsense started!!

Oddist thing that, it does sound same as mine. I wish there was a way to test the actual injector pump on the vehicle.

is it on the accelterator pedal? looks like its been tampered with before as it has 6 wires, 2 cut off and 1 tee'd in going back towards the ECU, WTF. Would a bad TPS cause a non start?

I have no idea if a tps would caus ea non start, but if the loom has been modded then somone has been playing, maybe that was the only pedal/potentiometer they could get at the time?
Iirc the pottentiometer is on the drivers side inner wing with the mechanical cable from the throttle pedal, if its an auto ignore the kickdown cable.
Td5 tps is on the pedal itself like all later cars, tdi edc is an oddball in more ways than one.

The one thing to bear in mind is if it all goes tits up you can fit the mechanical injection pump.

Thanks, there is nothing on the inner wing apart from the vacuum pump for Cruise Control so Im thinking its something to do with the TPS, would anyone on here know if that would cause a non starter?
