HI, new here, posted thread earlier about freelander cutting out, dunno how to delete old one  just got freelander back from garage (1997 es petrol 1.8) after sending it there because of overheating now got same problem after having gasket replaced the water boils up in the bottle and engine overheats also engine sounds rattley but goes away if you put clutch down?? also cuts out when gearing down into 2nd, please any ideas what problem could be as its my only transport, any ideas would be thankfull for, thanks, sam

take it back and tell em to fix it

Take it back.

Overheating = air lock, faulty stat, dead water pump

Engine cut out = timing, fuel filter, fuel pump

Clutch rattle = clutch roller bearing .....aka thrust/idle bearing, not that crucial, they can rattle from low mileage
