Not another newbie I hear you all say but please I am after some advice/help. I recently purchased a Vogue 4.4v8 (L332) autobiography 2012. The car is an absolute dream to drive and I cannot understand why I haven't owed one before, or am I going to find out why very soon? The car drives perfectly, no funny engine noises, no suspension knocks, no hesitation in gear changes, suspension goes up and down when different heights are selected (well most of the time) this is problem number 1.

On occasions on start up I get a "suspension fault" ping up, if I turn it off and on again then it doesn't return, I had the codes read and it says front left height sensor, so Im guessing this is a easy fix. then theres problem number 2 which is baffling me.

Im getting a very strange noise when driving slowly ie in country lanes or car parks, to me it sounds like a resonating kind of noise, im not getting any knocks or bangs at all and no vibration felt through the car. can only just hear it when the windows are closed and you really have to listen for it but when the window is open its very clear, I really have no idea what it could be.

Have any of you have an similar experience or could advise me as to what it is

many thanks in advance Dan.

Hi, I don't know the L322 but I've worked through EAS problems on my p38.
Could the noise you hear actually be the compressor running? I had this a while back, it had come slightly loose and was vibrating quite loudly. Once I tightened it back up, the noise went away.

Hi, thanks for replying, quite possible I guess, without sounding stupid how often should the compressor kick in?

You will have to try and narrow down the noise, do you hear when moving and or stationary ? Is it constant or intermittent etc. If you can recreate the noise in certain circumstances it will help find it. if you have a suspension fault it could be the compressor as already mentioned if it’s trying to compensate for a fault such as a leak. Codes are normally good advice but don’t always get the exact fault, sometimes something related to the code is the problem.

As above.

Good battery? (Suspension)

Is it a vibration or a clicking type of sound? The reason I ask is you say “enclosed” type of space is when you hear.
There is a bunch of heat shield underneath that can trap stones or lose a screw then they vibrate too.(I have 1;))

take a good look underneath. Check props;).

And No they are not as bad as some make out :D

I know this is an oldish thread but did you get to the bottom of this noise and if so what was the cause? I have an odd sound on my 2011 L322 5.0.S/C which kind of sounds like a low pitch gong that I'm trying to investigate. I hear it mostly at low speeds and in stop start traffic, so just wondered if this was similar?
