Hi everyone! Hope use are all having a great day! I’m wondering if this is the place to get help on my 2002 discovery 2 auto. It’s holding gears for a very long time won’t go over 50mph smokes a little. Turbo fine no play. Only way to gain some speed is to gently press the throttle an let it build up to a high enough gear to gain maximum speed of 50! Any suggestion or anyone experienced this

Hi there sweet cheeks ;)

Has this been a persistent problem since ownership or just started?

When was the last time you serviced the gearbox?

When you dip the trans fluid, is it cherryade red or brown/black with a burnt smell to it?

Just purchased vehicle couple weeks back, had todo the HeadGasket. Been perfect since owing never occurred until couple days ago. Haven’t yet checked fluids in the gearbox thought first protocol would be seeking advice

I am a belt an braces kind of guy, I like to replace all fluids and filters upon purchase and timing belt if it has one.

Pull the dippy stick an see what it's like ;)

HeadGasket been done so all that was changed. Where would I locate the dipstick for gearbox? I was told it didn’t have one

Oh yeah, sorry you have a D2 an the boffins at Land ROver in their infinite wisdom decided to omit the dippy stick on these.

In that case you can better order up a service kit and do it anyways as most likely previous owners will not have had it changed.

Has your turbo actuator come off? Its not vac on a td5 but sounds similar to when you lose boost. Has it got an egr valve still? Whip that off anyway, cheap kits on ebay. Did you sacrifice 2 virgin goats when you bought it? Can help avoid problems
