Does anyone know the easiest way to remove the pollen filter cover off a Freelander 2005 model.......because at the moment, Im about to start grinding the sides off one of my socket set pieces????

Do landrover do this on purpose...an easy change item turned into a bloody nightmare...excuse my french!!!

Am also about to install a 12N towbar wiring kit, plug ended to fit the freelander wiring loom...it has no instructions, does anyone know if its advised to disconnect the battery before plugging in?

Thanks all,,,decided not to burn it...lol Been there with a Hyundai...the men in uniform get a bit funny about burning vehicles!

Anyway, it wasnt cross head screws..it was bolts...sunk into the plastic. Ended up grinding down a 6mm socket to a fine edge..it just fitted..so got the job done.

Oxonlandy..if you dont change the pollen filter it puts extra strain on the cabin fan....ending in a knackered bearing and ultimately a new heater fan..at great expense..the filter costs about £6....trouser press and finger bowl indeed...lol.

Thanks for all the help folks.

Noobs please take note, the OP asked a question, received some advice/help AND some banter. He then came back:eek::eek: and said what he did to solve his problem, thus helping others in the same boat.:cool:

What he didn't do was throw his dummy, toys and everything else that wasn't bolted down out of his pram, and start threatening people. That's the way to do it;););):D:D:D:D

Maybe we should start a weekly "Best Noob Award". Here's a candidate!

Tut Tut...all is well with the freelander...after I discovered the joys of removing the engine guard..but a small grinder mod in the metalwork now makes removing the plastic section and not 96 bloody bolts...a lot easier for the next oil change.

By the way..does anyone know why when Im travelling at 158mph...the engine warning light comes on?
