My Disco TD5 has developed a major fuel leak which seems to be coming from a pipe which attaches to the pump in the top of the tank. I believe this was the subject of a recall but I can't find any evidence that mine was done.
Firstly am I correct in thinking that you have to remove the tank to replace this part which I think is part number WJP108110 "Hose pipe assy"?
The leak started on my way to work and the vehicle is currently sitting in the workshop of a local garage. Only problem is that they are unable to do the job.
I daren't drive it as it will leak diesel all over the road so to move it to another garage will require a trailer.
Firstly can anyone suggest a LR specialist near to St.Ives, Cambs preferably with a trailer to collect it?
If no trailer can anyone suggest someone with a trailer who could collect and deliver to them?
Thanks in advance.

Hi are you not in the AA/RAC? They would normally be able to "recover" you if you cant drive it.
Yes consensus here is drop the tank, I did mine a few months ago, its also a good opportunity to check the rear chassis for holes!
Part number is WJP108110 price around £130 incl vat and delivery from Brit-Car (not Britpart) , thats a genuine LR one. Prob cheaper for pattern part.

PS its a pig of a job! Why cant your garage do it? Its much easier if its on a hoist. They can then use a gearbox jack to support it. I did my on the ground, took about 3 hours to get it out, 1 hour to re-fit.

Thanks Mark, I suspect the job is outside of their comfort zone. They only have one ramp to do it on which is their MOT one and therefore pretty regularly used.
As an expert now I don't suppose you fancy doing mine for £80 per hour labour?
Cheers.

Hi
Well I am only down the road from you...but, now ive got mine running well Ive got to tidy it up and MOT it this weekend, so although the cash would come in (very) handy, Ill have to decline!
But Im sure someone else on here would be able to lend a hand especially if your offering nice beer tokens!

Huddy thanks I thought so too but received less than a positive reception when I went to see them this evening.

If your still not sorted I have a name or two who I think are in Peterborough via the Peterborough Landrover club.

Check out http://www.pnpautofix.co.uk/, lots of good reviews for odd bits usual garages fail at. Just not used him myself. Owen's into land rovers so hopefully can help.

Thanks but all sorted now. Had a truck collect from the first garage at 13.00 yesterday and take to Rays Garage at Pidley. Got a call at 08.05 this morning to say it was all done, new genuine pipe set and fuel filter fitted. What fantastic service from a really helpful and friendly garage.
