Hi all, :D

This is new to me forums and discos! iv'e got a disco 1 300TDI on a P plate she's one of the special vehicles a van type. its a grate machine and neva let me down but last week it flashed up a red warning light on the right hand side of the dash a box thing with a picture of a key in it!

I tryed to start it to no avail, kept trying............. and nothing. played with the key fob (2 button type) and there was a grinding/clicking from the passanger foot well and she started!!!!

its started every time now no problems there, but ive lost central locking electric windows, heater/air blower, radio and basicly everything electrical in the cab!

Could it be half imobilised? Ive looked for the dreaded "SPIDER" and theres not one fitted no wiring for it or anything! no sign that someone has cut it out or removed it!

ive checked fuses, battery, earths just about everything i can think of! i even borrowed  ok pinched :) a MFU? (green box under glove box) from a scrap yard but it wouldnt even start then!

ive had the window lift unit (black box under glove box) appart and looked for dry joints but its fine in mint condition!

any ideas anyone?

its doing my head in now!:confused:

any advice is welcome. have i missed anything at all???????

Hi, as far as I know the MFU is attached to the fuse box(not an independent unit under the glove box).........check forums and u'll see it's autdiagnostic mode, run it to make sure it's not him who makes the tricks.
The easyest way to diagnose is to plug in a tester........meanwhile how sure are u about the car's battery......if it's tyred it could give u hard time.

Its an old battery but neva let me down, could be worth changing mind. im gonna try a diagnostics test today ill keep ya posted!

Thanx

Think your right about the MFU been an the back of the fuse box! so whats the green box passanger side?

ive just done the diagnostics for the MFU and the interior lamps not working or the switch on the rear door. could this cause the central locking to fail?

Oh and windows etc ect still not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::mad::confused:

If the fookin MFU is faulty it could cause u lots of trouble.......check for dry joints inside the fuse box......the alarm is integrated within too.

There is a fuse - on one of the satelite fuse boxes (F6 I think) attached to the main fuse board which supplies the interior lights-that might be gone:)

Hi all

Thanx for your help but sadly still no luck! i think its something sinister like the MFU.

Pauli I did try to jump the fuse like you said but nothing! im not that worryed bout lights and little things like that, but id like to get the windows and CL to work.

cheers all
