Sadly not. Swapped the rf unit and then rf booster bit. Any reset I need to do after this?

To be honest I just e-mailed them and told them what I wanted and they did it all. Think they rang me back at one stage for credit card details.

I think (!!!) I bought NCOM06 as the basic unit for the diesel module and then added module NCOM17 for the GEMS engine module. If you want Thor you'll want the Motronic NCOM15 module and then if you want Discos or Defender stuff then you'll be looking at further modules.

I'll see if I can pull out Colin's e-mail address and PM it to you. He was very helpful. Safest to check before you part with that much cash.

RF booster bit? Sounds like you are looking at the radio amp not the FOB receiver

I see, I changed to bits on the offside rear. One was on top of the wheel arch (inside the car) the other was more towards the rear.

the fob receiver is on the drivers side so that sounds right. It's about the size of a matchbox, and just next to the seat catch mechanism.

RF Reciver is just behind the catch to unlock the Rear Seat

OK. Well, the thing different between yours and mine was the BECM not receiving a valid code from the receiver or remote. Cannot remember exact words.

Looking in RAVE section 86 page 10 (page 1231 overall) it says:

On vehicles up to 97MY, resynchronisation is
achieved by locking or unlocking the driver’s door
using the vehicle key with 30 seconds of locking,
superlocking or unlocking using the remote handset.
The BeCM monitors the condition of the driver’s door
CDL switch to initiate the resynchronisation.
On vehicles from 97MY, friendly resynchronisation
was introduced on vehicles with passive
immobilisation. A remote handset that is not
synchronised to the BeCM will automatically be
resynchronised when the key is inserted in the ignition
without using the vehicle key or Emergency Key
Access (EKA) procedure.
The resynchronisation uses a pick-up coil in the
remote handset and a passive coil located around the
ignition barrel. The passive coil provides a signal for
the remote handset to transmit an unlock signal to
remobilise the vehicle.

I wonder what effect it would be if the pickup coil in the ignition has come loose? The BECM should have got the code from the RF receiver when you unlocked the car but if it isn't picking up anything from the ignition it looks like it probably wouldn't start.

Take it you don't have another key to try in the ignition?

Or you could see if anyone has got an old RF unit you could borrow for testing. I'm sure people will have replaced theirs and kept the old one just in case!

Had exact same thing from mine tonight. Solved it by disabling the immobiliser and alarm. I'm down you way again a week Thursday.

1) Get that battery fully charged. Nothing else will do! In fact, charge it now, check it holds charge and then top it up ready for the big evening.

2) I should be able to get to yours by 8pm-ish, as last time.

Let's have another go and see if we can crack it this time.
