rite first of all id like to introduce myself, my name is Ben and i have a black 06 freelander...i know not a proper offroader but its what i needed and its great to me.. ha ha :)

The problem, lately as some will know.. most of the uk is having alot of snow. so what i am thinking is fitting some more appropriate tyres for the conditions to make driving a little safer. but i still want my car to look nice. as its black i was thinking of black modular 7x16 wheels with 215/70/16 70%road 30%offroad tyres. i have 225/55/17's at the mo and are rather slippy esecially after i had the ecu upgrade they tend to spin easier.:D
what i want to know basically is will they fit and will i have problems? ive heard that modulars are like having spacers so will i be able to go for a wider tyre? and will it cause problems as i heard spacers cause bearing problems? so do the modulars cause these problems? basically what is the largest tyre i can put on 7x16 modulars without problems?

any help guys would be fantastic... im very in-experienced in this field and expect everyone to know a hell of a lot more then me... so please HELP

thank you
Ben.

so are you gonna help or give smart comments still? because if you are full of smart comments id rather you'd keep them to yourself. im 24 not 54 and dont need a defender etc if i did id buy one tomorrow..

if you want to learn where do you go? somewhere where people might know. IE: why i asked here!
i havn't had one bit of trouble getting anywhere, just want extra grip and reasurance.

any sensible answers welcome please.

Get Gen Grabber AT2's dont worry about sizes - Driving skill is more important - but as you are 24 you will know that.

oooo - yu said its a black one - oh dear :(.

Was gonna say that you might get a bit more help in the Freelander section but I see MHM has come up trumps. I don't know about tyre sizes for you but the black modulars would probably look pretty good on a freebie and you might even been able to consider 50/50 road/off roads tyres in the appropriate size.

Not likely to need spacers if the modulars have the right dishing (the spacer thing is mostly on old 90/110 with rear drum brakes and alloys wheels retro fitted)

oh rite, yeah i heard that the modulars are like having spacers so wont be needed, i dont take it offroad so 50/50 would really be too much for me, the car is primeraly the ship the dog about and to and from work so no adventurous driving involved really,

thanks for your info too. medusa :)

i can take a ribbin and can give it but when im willing to learn and people are writing silly stuff its like being in a class room when ya willing to learn and there is a naughty kid at the back of the room stoppin ya from learnin. i dont mind but teach me too. and dont mock my lack of understanding and help me. :)

great you're willing to learn, and not mocking, just having fun which is wot this site does.
you will notice that in between the fun you have info/advice
have a good look round the forum, loads of info and loads of **** taking
;)

looks like i got to come down to your way of thinking to understand how this site works and to get information.
Thank you.

No, you don't need to come down to anything, you just need to take your head out of your arse mate. Don't give us all that **** we get it weekly from newbies. It's a public forum, anyone can join, and anyone can say what they like. You got joking and you got answers, I'm failing to see any problem apart from you being on a tall pony.

Just take a chill pill fella you'll soon fit in.
