hello to you all im a newbie on the site and have just bought my 1st defender 90 "kreg" the water jet for windscreen has very little power even tho the water seems to flow ok anything i can do to fix this problem? thankyou billy

if you have a reasonable flow of water tis probably down to the hole has been widened by peeps poking things in it to clear it in which case you can live with it or replace them

defender washers are usually very poor,u cant compare them to normal cars,as long as a bit of water is goin onto the screen there ok :D

As above as long as it puts water on the screen its fine. Replacing a washer jet on a defender is a bastard of a job. I think its the first part on the assembly line and they build a defender around it.

"TOP TIP"

you can actualy get to the bastid if you pull the ashtray out ;)

This is a popular myth. That I realised would require fingers like knitting needles after about 15 minutes.
I would like to see a video of it been done.

Only if your ashtray is on the top of the dashboard rather than down by the fuse box!

That I wunt know, never had a posh one, mine have always been on the dash.

I managed it with hands like **** shovels & long nosed pliers ,admitently a pain in the arse but beats taking the dash out !

what size is the nut that holds the jet wash in? i can sort offeel the nut but your right about it being awkward might try a ferret in there to loosen the bloody thing thats if a ferret can get to it!

I would try takeing the front jet's off first (just clips off) and try blowing through with compressed air, one of mine was blocked and I managed to unblock it with a combination of air and pushing some copper wire through!

Pain in the arse this time of the year if it's not working, with all the salt on the road you can't see a bloody thing

its not as if no water comes out it just doesnt reach the bloody windscreen! and your right about the salt from the roads ive just got back from an hours trip and it was hazardous to say the least .ive got the ash tray out from[top of dash] and was thinking of cutting a spanner down to sort of fit in the hole.if that fails its a squirty bottle kept at the ready:D
