Guys trying to identify winch on my defender.

Can't see anything except this...

90-31100

11.212.920

Made in Slovenia

All this on silver sticker on one side

Then yellow sticker on other side with stuff on it inc US PATENT 5398923

Was going to take photo but its all set far into front and hidden by bullbar etc so you can't see anything.

Looking online using the numbers all seems to point to superwinch x9 but the remote is different and doesn't have the solenoid pack mounted on winch with the x9 logo casing...but has a solenoid pack (2 silver barrel type) wired under wing.

The remote actually has no plug.

Anybody have a notion????

Just trying to ascertain if its a decent winch or not - all disconnected at the moment but if it was decent winch would go to trouble of tidying it up and seeing if it will work but if its just a cheapie then wouldn't be bothered.

Its well tucked in so cant even get it out but have to remove bumper and bullbar (all welded together!) this week.

Be interested to see if anybody recognises it.

The Motors an Iskra made in Slovina good quality motor re badged and use by many others. I have fitted many and never had a bad one
The winch looks like a Superwinch but so many clones look the same, The engage lever looks to be missing
If its Superwinch which I also suspect it is they were sold with the solenoid above the drum ( Bridge) or separate so you could move them out of harms way.
They often have different remotes as people fit what they have as often genuine ones are expensive
I would take it to bits and go from what you find

Thanks for that...yes it looking like it may well be a superwinch to me. The numbers when entered into google keep bringing up the Toyota Superwinch x9. But that looks an expensive bit of kit and I would be surprised if it was. But if you ignore the different remote and lack of solenoid above the drum the rest looks identical. Even the silver and yellow sticker at each end.

So its def a superwinch. An x9 or x6. Not sure which yet. What are these like...worth refurbing or not worth hassle? Need good dependable winch for self recovery and general work use (not everyday).

Anybody recommend somebody for winch returns? Or even superwinch parts?

If it was mine I would keep it and fix it.
Repairs, Sadly Phil Gordon Died a few years ago and he was the best repair man in the UK.
I shut up shop as loads of people wanted them fixing but didn't want to spend more than £20 on them, they look on Ebay and some how think it makes sense to bin a good quality winch as they can buy a Chinese one for £150.
Superwinch should be able to sell you bits or possibly point you to a local agent.
If you are not happy to do it your self try a local auto electrician, they may help you

My mate had one that superwinch quoted daft money to fix, he gave it to me and all I did was clean and rebuild it and its like new
