Hi All, Please some help and advise please.

3:30am the alarm startes sounding, switched off with fob but then noticed interior lights staying on and alarm sounds again
Had error message....Door open LHR... checked it out, all sound and shut tight but still have error.
Bought a replacement door lock today changed it all and hey presto still have the 'door open LHR'
Done a continunity test and the micro switch is working on the car and also the door lock I took off.........
checked the wires on the door up to the Main pillar where block connectors are and all is fine.........:confused:

Any ideas where to look next, I can't lock car because alarm will sound and interior lights stay on, so had to disconnect battery.......... Help Please

Have you adjusted the door striker plate, if you have latch may not be fully latching. It has two latch positions half and full. It must be on full latch for switch to be activated. Try opening door and flicking latch to full on position with a screwdriver blade if the dash message goes. Adjust striker until door is latching correctly.

Thanks wammers, I have done that but still get the error message.
I have just been out to check mulitplugs on Becm and all are fine and dry.
I reconnected the battery and it seemed ok for about 10 mins (all lights and error msg have gone off) then the fault started again.......... help!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought. Could the wiring have got swapped at some time? Have you checked the other door?

I might get shot down in flames by those who know BECM wiring better than me but I reckon it's worth suggesting.

Yep, Have checked the doors and all working as it should and matches with message board when opened or closed.

but dont know why all seems to be working again.
All interior lights go off now and the alarm only works now as it should.

I have no idea why it has worked again but it is, ........ well for now anyway!!

Oh the joys of the P38 ;);)

But I still love them

Well the car has been behaving all day, but 6am this morning it has decided to be a pain in the Arse again ..... Yep you guessed it the bloody alarm is sounding again.

Any Ideas to why it keeps doing this??
I dont know where to look now

Might sound strange but i have had a similar problem with my interior lights, although the alaarm was not affected. First time it just went away after a couple of days of pulling the fuse fo the lights when i got out. Second time was after i had bought a synchmate, it was driving me mad so i just thought if its Becm related in anyway maybe a reynch will help. Plugged it in and it flashed red ( i think cant remember what the various colours mean) then went green (which is good) nand the problem was solved, no more lights. Just a thought, Becm has its fingers in a lot of pies.............

Thanks Discomalc,
Starting to think Becm myself now as well. Have noticed that if battery is disconnected for some time then all is well for maybe a couple of hours or even over night.
Does the synchmate just reset the becm and clear it of any faults?.....I've not heard of it before.

Spoke to a guy today and he has said there is a chance it could be the alarm sensors in the car playing up and to change them, I might do this just to see if it is a cheap fix before the Becm startiong getting taken out!!!!! has anyone heard of that problem??

Starting to panic now, I need the car for my hospital visits this week, so really need to get it sorted before I go back in

could it be a wire in the door breaking down,or a poor earth on the door,or a possible becm fault?

I thought of the alarm sensor but that shouldn't give a door open warning. However the rear doors are linked straight to the BECM so you might be unlucky enough to have a problem there.

You might try a PM to Irishrover, I know that he's sold his kit but he's still got years of knowledge (pickled in the black stuff) and has been very helpful to a lot of people.

Thanks for the replies guys I will pm Irish and pick his brains.
I had to unplug alarm and turn off the interior lights, but just a bit scared that the battery will drain if I just do that, so battery lead is coming off tonight!!
